Dru-Dru Reese

The Basics
Name: Dru-Dru Reese (Hebe)
Nickname: Dru
Age: Ageless
Species: Goddess of Eternal Youth

The Appearance
Weight: 120 lbs
Height:  5’6’’
Physical Description:

Dru-Dru has the appearance of a young woman with a mop of curly brown hair and piercing grey eyes that are far older than the face around them.  She is prone to wearing clothing that she can climb, run, bike, and generally move in.  You would be hard pressed to find her in a dress or the color pink. She wears her hair unkempt, in braids, a messy bun, or a pony tail.  It’s not uncommon to see her with a baseball cap or a hoodie.  True when she was a goddess and true now, Dru-Dru is clumsy- though this looks far better on a mortal woman than a goddess.

Distinguishing Features:
Dru-Dru doesn't have any tattoos or outstanding marks other than incredibly young eyes.

The Human
Personality:

There are two personalities.  The first is Dru-Dru.  A reckless  plain speaking tomboy who has a quick turnaround for most people trying to get her goat.  Dru-Dru lives on a animal preserve that she runs, but no one really remembers what animals she keeps there- Dogs, Cats, or *something.*  Dru-Dru is known to ride her bike into town at all hours of the day or night.  She is an animal lover and “collects” many of the strange and magical creatures that have migrated to the town’s protective boundary.  Truth be known she is the towns Magical Non-Sentient Animal Control Officer and keeps them tucked away nicely on her “preserve.” (Though she does have a small puppy and kitty placement service for the mortals- that she houses near the front of her property- they tend to end up as food for some of her actual charges if she lets them intermix.)

Her second personality is that of Hebe-  An ancient and wise goddess who used to be the cupbearer to Zeus, who married the strongest man in the world and held her own by his side, and who watched the toppling of the Gods, the rise and fall of nations, and still maintained her sense of humor about the whole thing.

Mundane Skills: Animal handling, can make one heck of a nectar, can ride a bike... Is falling down a skill?

Occupation:
Dru-Dru runs the Refuge at the southern end of Sanctuary.  It is a job she has done for centuries and will continue to do for centuries more.

She is also the nectar maker for the Gods.  They would prefer she was in a more secure location, but she's not willing to

The Not So Human
Species Description:
Hebe is one of the Old Gods of Greek legend.  When the world changed the Greek Gods moved on.  Greek Gods must drink nectar in order to maintain their power.  Hebe is able to do so, so is her brother- but her's is more potent.

Powers and Abilities:
Hebe is a goddess, but low on the goddess scale. Despite her inability to age and the mirage and memory she has created of her animal preserve-

She was the cup bearer, so she makes nectar and ambrosia on her preserve and has a online ordering service for the gods and goddesses who get cravings from time to time and must consume to retain their immortality.

She does have the power to grant eternal youth or grant renewed youth to someone who has aged,  though she really can’t remember the last time she was tempted to use it.  She finds plastic surgery hilarious!

Hebe is able to work with animals especially the mythical non-sentient sort.  She has the natural ability to calm them and they are somewhat drawn to her, though that doesn’t mean they don’t escape from time to time and she has to collect them once again.

She is the guardian of one of the trees of life.  These refuges throughout the world keep magic flowing in the world.  It is one of the reasons magic is so powerful in Sanctuary.  It is also why Dru-Dru is a protector.

The Story
Character Background:

Hebe was the daughter of Zeus and Hera toward the end of their somewhat rocky marriage.  She was made the cupbearer for her father and was eventually ousted from that job by her younger brother Ganymede.  Her brother, being lazy always had her prepare the ambrosia and nectar thus as far as the gods are concerned, she’s the only one who knows how.

She was the last wife of Heracles before he descended to Hades.  She finds amusement in the myth that he became a God himself- the asshole.  At most he could only get to demi-god status and then have affair after affair.  Still despite his bisexual philandering with mortals and immortals like, she’s stuck married to him.  It’s harder for goddesses to get a divorce than mortals apparently.  The ring won’t come off until both parties agree- so far he hasn’t.  Not that she hasn’t tried- the ring shows wear and tear because of it.     Partially because of the rocky relationship with Heracles and partially because of her parents rocky relationship, she has little belief in extra-marital affairs and chooses to remain celibate until Heracles can be persuaded to give her, her divorce.

As the god’s fell, Hebe took on many personas.  The Roman’s worshiped her as Maia, but with the rise of the new religion, Hebe happily took on the appearance of being a mortal.  Sanctuary drew Dru-Dru to it about ten years back, because of the animals drawn to the protective spells.  She has a soft spot for the strange and unusual creatures of myth and legend and took on the role of being their protector and the protector of humans who might be hurt by her innocent though dangerous charges.

Not so long ago the Refuge was attacked and only through the efforts of some powerful friends was she able to keep the tree and magic flowing.  Dru-Dru is still somewhat wounded by this event.  She has taken up a position on the Council in order to represent the wildlands- a seat that has never been filled before, but those of the Council felt were needed given the near disaster Sanctuary almost suffered.
