Ability: Portal Creation:  They say that the abilities a Gifted receives are not based on anything they did or who they were when the virus took root.  Before the fall of the world, Griffin was a flighty individual. He left his overbearing family to travel the world. Being in one place for too long made him antsy. Then, after his wife died, he left his son. He had to go.

So, it makes sense for him to have the Gift of going from one place to another as he wishes.  At will, Griffin can connect two adjacent locations, allowing him and others to pass through.  Over the years, he has learned how to cast his portals at targets, and use deflection, by redirecting a targets attacks back at them.

The larger the portal he cast, the more draining it is. The stability of the portal also depends on the distance he is attempting to travel.  The closer, the more stable, the further away from the less stable, and the less time he can keep it open.

Physical Description:  Initial impressions of Griffin is that he is an intimidating individual.  He was blessed with height and towers over many at 6 feet 5 inches.  It isn't just his height but also the broadness of his shoulders and the muscles that decorate his body. For someone his age, he is in wonderful physical shape. It comes with the heavy lifting of his people and surviving for ten years outside of the safety of borders.

His skin has been kissed by the sun and is far from blemish-free. There are wrinkles at the corners of his eyes that reveals he enjoys laughing. His face is never seen without his signature salt and pepper beard.  While most of it is white from the stresses that come with his position, some of it still matches the dark color of his unruly hair.

The dark color of his skin and hair bring out the green color of his eyes - the same color as his son's.

Distinguishing Features:  Griffin's body is decorated with tatoos - some have meaning, others are just for show.   Also, he is rarely seen without his leather jacket.

Personality Description:  The often serious look of Griffin's face can, at times, make him unapproached.  It is a mask he is good at wearing and can hold when the time calls for it.   His very presence demands respect, and he doesn't have to verbalize that to people.

With that being said, he also knows how to have a good time.  He does not mind laughing, talking, and getting to know the people around him. In fact, he can be a warm, inviting individual. A person can't successfully hold the position he does and be loved by the people without learning how to balance both.

He is wonderful at communicating and knows how to speak to a crowd. This comes with discernment and knowing how much to say and when, or when to be quiet and listen to the counsel of others.  He has always been able to read his audience well, even before he was in a position of authority.
