Ethgar Longarm

Ethgar frequently goes about shirtless in brazen defiance of the cold and of the scars on his chest, which is otherwise broad and rippling with muscles and a real pinnacle of barbarian manliness. But it's been gouged and cut up in strange ways that obviously did not occur in battle, and little sparkling crystal shards remain lodged in his body like glitter and his flesh sometimes seem to undulate and shift around slightly as if with a mind of its own.

He's also a great black beard that embodies the virtues of his tribe, though that too is marred by scar tissue and red, patchy skin where bits of flesh are permanently missing. The beard he keeps well groomed when he has the opportunity, but he's not had the opportunity lately, so it's bushy and wild, rebelling constantly against the leather straps he ties around it in a vain attempt to wrangle it.

He covers his lower half with animal hides, and a thin sword - surprisingly dainty for the otherwise large man - swings at his side. A more appropriately large shield hangs on his back, decorated with elk antlers and bearing the stylized head of an elk in its center in bone-white paint. More surprising than the thin sword is a delicate wooden instrument resembling a tiny harp that also hangs from his belt.

An amulet featuring a single piece of bone somehow bent into a knot hangs from his neck. Despite the material, the style is not reminiscent of the Uthgardt tribes, and the smooth, curved, flawless piece of jewelry looks out of place on his otherwise rugged person.
