LASTLY, With that said, Welcome to "The Adamantite Empire." campaign, I have high hopes, and so should you. Enjoy!!! The title derives from the long history of a large empire, loosely based upon the Romans within a fantasy framework. Beginning with a relatively small tribe that discovers a massive cave that contained an Adamantine dragon graveyard. As the dragons died, their blood, skin and bones infused the large metal deposits within the cave, which allowed the tribe to create weapons, armor and other items that were far superior to anything the region produced. Over 3 centuries, the tribe grew and conquered everything in their path, becoming a kingdom and eventually an empire. They were unstoppable, each and every nation they encountered were defeated and subjugated, either to be absorbed and incorporated or made into a tribute paying protectorate. At the greatest point, in the prime of martial glory, a diplomatic and economic force without second, they controlled the lands and seas of two-thirds of the known world. Its few adversaries were powerless to resist entering into alliances and treaties, without risking becoming a target. Over time, as all systems so large and burdensome do, internal and external problems eventually weakened the empire to the point where the pressures of maintaining a stable governance were just starting to show the cracks and wear of history. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, that’s the general premise, which underpins the numerous plots the players/group will deal with. As beginning characters, in general, they will know little of the minutia of the history, as they proceed, who knows? This is just the backdrop as they say. The larger or “bigger picture” will be running in the background as the players adventure. In most cases, they will be unaffected, however, as they interact, sometimes they might feel the heavy hand of events as things happen around them. Somethings might happen regardless of player actions, or will they? You are the actors in an interactive production. Think of it as a movie or play, in which you might or might not, influence events going on. In any case, there is still a lot of technical things I need to set up…which might take some time, and I still need to lock down the 1st scene or beginning point. Please be patient, as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Cheers. |
