The City That Never Sleeps
The City That Never Sleeps is an urban fantasy game, focusing on wizards, other practitioners, humans and supernatural creatures living in NYC, who may be faced with dangers and various changes that come their way in their day to day lives. The game will be based in the Dresden Files Universe/Dresdenverse.

SPOILER ALERT! Personally, I don't think you should have to be familiar with the Dresden Files universe or books to play this game; However, if you don't wish to run into spoilers, this is not the game for you. As with all of my games based in an already established universe, I will not require those who are familiar with the series to be careful with what they say around those who aren't- that is way too much work on my end, and is not something I wish to do.
Summary
As I previously mentioned, CTNS is an Urban Fantasy game based in the Dresdenverse. As with most, if not all, Urban Fantasy, the supernatural population will be well-hidden, most humans ignorant to the world around them. Characters will need to be able to take on a human facade, if they are not human themselves, to blend in with the citizens of NYC. Humans are precarious creatures, easily spooked... the supernatural community has suffered in the past, due to certain people becoming careless with the use of magic. Let's try to avoid another witch hunt, if we can.
Create a character, explore the city, make friends or enemies, thrive or wither. Follow plot lines, or strike out on your own. It's all up to you.
The time line of the books is estimated to have begun in 1999 or 2000, so we will be starting in June of 1999. To avoid continuity errors, and for the sake of being able to write our own story rather than leaning on the already established one, we will be creating our own timeline, as the game progresses. The events of the books will not have occurred- this is a fresh start.
That said, knowing the books backwards and forwards is not a requirement, and will not give you a major advantage in this game. I try to make it a habit, in my games, to be very open to those wishing to join with no previous knowledge. You will learn as you go, and any questions can be directed toward the GM(s) or the other players who are familiar with Jim Butcher's Work. There will be plenty of Dresden Files wiki links left around the threads, to offer players the chance to garner more information on the world around them.
While we will not be following the original story, we will be utilizing elements from the books, such as the Organizations, Courts, Creatures, general mechanics, etc. to keep what we know and love about the Dresden Files (besides Harry and other core characters, of course) alive in the game, to give it the right feel.

DISCLAIMER: This is a free-form game, meaning that there will be no dice rolling or general system that the players have to adhere to. The GM(s) may roll dice behind the scenes, from time to time, to determine the outcome of a certain event, but that will not be something the players have to participate in. Likewise, there will be an overarching premade plot, but the majority of the game will be player led. I, and any other GM(s) that may join in the future, will not lead your character by the nose. If you're looking for a game that is heavily GM centric, this is not the game for you. That being said, I will be writing as some NPC's here and there and will be offering plot hooks, but you will need to be able to write your own story and interact with the other characters on your own for the most part. Do not expect to rely on the GM(s) for everything, we have lives as well and our time is limited, as is the case with most of you.
Just a heads up:
I am not, by any means, an expert on the source material- one of the many reasons we will be moving away from the initial story. There is the possibility that I may mess up here and there, and I am well aware of that. I have done quite a bit of research into the universe and will continue to do so, as the game progresses. So, rest assured that any potential issues will be fixed in due time. Thank you for your understanding.
