Angelica de Voss

Name: Angelica de Voss

Age: 28 years old

Gender/sexuality: Female/Heterosexual

Where are you from?: Born and raised in LA

What do you do?: Singer turned Fashion Designer

What kind of place do you live in?: An upscale beach house by the water.

Appearance: Angie is a tall, graceful looking young woman with bright honey-colored eyes and a heart shaped face, her high cheekbones and a cupid's bow set of lips draw conversation towards her like a horse to water. Her soft blonde hair falls just barely past her shoulders, delicate beachy waves that she doesn't often try to tame. Her hips curve and long, lithe runner's legs stretch out from underneath her like a giraffe. Not particularly pale nor is she extremely tanned, Angie flutters between a happy middle, her porcelain skin unmarked save for a small birthmark on the side of her right hip and a thumb-sized tattoo of a heart on the nape of her neck in loving memory of her father.

Angie's usual casual (read: lazy) attire often consists of the comfortable jeans and tee combo on a pair of low sneakers and an oversized hoodie, or when she's feeling particularly in a good mood, a cute dress or skirt and crop top option may or may not make an appearance. She is rather fashion forward due to her line of work, and tends to wear local brands and colors when out on the town or spending time with her friends.

Personality: Angie is generally a pretty laid back, down-to-earth individual who loves a good laugh paired with great friends. She tries her best not to take things too seriously and finds happiness in anything artistic and art-related; museums and art galleries are a happy must! She loves to delve deep into a good conversation and always has something to say, whether it's about politics and religion, or what flavor of tea she should have in the morning and with which cookies. She doesn't let the little things bother her much, and is an easy person to console or confide in. Her ideal night free of responsibilities would probably include late night pizza, pillows and blankets and a cheesy romantic drama or a good book in a comfy chair under the warm glow of a low lamp. Yet despite this, Norah is a well-intentioned social butterfly: she loves to be around people and can be rather flirty when meeting others for the first time.

Interests/hobbies/likes: Flowers, jazz music, clean laundry, the beach, playing the piano, the color red, cheesy romance movies, Hawaiian pizza, oversized hoodies, singing (especially in the shower or in her car), natural sunlight, gardening, cooking, a really nice (fruity!) cocktail, a good pair of heels, dancing.

Dislikes/pet peeves: Rude/selfish people, wet socks, bad fashion sense, kale, the sight of an excess amount of blood, mice, horror movies, cherry-flavored things, being late.

Background: Angelica knows LA the way her father did: through the basement, underground music scene where Walter de Voss was a soul pianist and composer for a local jazz band. In her youth, Angelica would spend days and nights tucked away in the corner booth as her father worked, playing music for jazz and blues lounges all across LA. The story of her mother is a sad one, and Angelica doesn't speak about it much but what she does know of Teresa is that she had developed stage 4 breast cancer shortly after giving birth to Angelica, and passed away when her daughter was barely a year old, leaving the young child without a mother.

But music had it's way of protecting Angelica, and when school just wasn't doing the job for her, the jazz scene quickly took it's place. Instead of writing English assignments and doing math homework, Angelica would spend hours beside Walter learning the piano. She would study riffs and cadences, while kids her age were trading lunches on the playground and catching cooties. She loved to sing with her father, and often sang along to his records whenever they were being played.

When she was 12 years old, Angelica was finally given the opportunity to sing a song that she and her father wrote together. The resident jazz music goers were impressed with the young woman, and overtime Angelica became a household name. She sang with her father on occasion, while also singing and playing the piano in her own short sets in between a dinner service or afternoon cocktail hour. Not many people in the world knew Walter de Voss, but Angelica would make it known that the world would know who she was.

The day that Walter de Voss passed, the jazz world mourned. Even in his age he had become a well-loved musician in the jazz circle and had just begun to tour North America with his only daughter when he fell ill. Not wanting to disappoint her father, Angelica continued the tour on her own, meeting her father's legacy with each town stop they made. By the time the tour was over and Angelica returned home to LA, her name was all over the biggest headlines:

'Jazz icon Walter de Voss leaves behind a legacy in young up-and-coming daughter!'

'Who is Angelica de Voss, and what really happened to her family?'

'The mirrored vocals of a mourning woman: Walter de Voss and his beautiful vocalist daughter!'

Agents and commercial deals were suddenly bombarding the then-24-year-old young woman, who in her own right was still in mourning. She had just lost her father, but had completed a national tour, the first and last that he would ever have. Suddenly the world was zoning in on her and what little family she had left, fame and fortune on the edge of their lips. It was with the help of her father's musical contacts and agents that Angelica decided that she would do her father proud and branch out, to make the de Voss name the one people would remember.

Selecting an agent and signing her first ever record deal, Angelica began her career into the international world of music. While her classic jazz sound remained for a few songs she had initially written, Angelica took the advise of her agency and began to change her sound. Overtime, her music became more mainstream and she started to collaborate with local up-and-coming artists who had songs on the radio. It was a start, but it was something bigger than her father had despite the new direction she was taking. At this rate she could only hope she was still making him proud.

After three years of publicity and a few more record deals, Angelica had grown tired of the charade. Mainstream music was not what she had ultimately signed up for, and what little fame had brought her, while profitable and popular, had tired her out. Deciding she was ready to go in a new direction, Angelica utilized her small pocket of fame to launch a perfume, the starting line-up of something different. Her perfume took off, iconizing the young starlet as an up-and-coming fashionista. Soon afterwards she would sign a deal to invest in a shoe line and a year later, the start of her own clothing line.

While music had taken a back seat in her newest ventures, Angelica plans on growing her clothing line, and has recently been invited to have her newest designs in LA Fashion Week.
