Weird Science and the Corners of Reality (Solo)

Weird Science and the Corners of Reality tells the tales of those who delve into the mysteries of the unknown, and find things beyond their imagination. Some would call this a tale of mad science, but it may be a tale of coming to terms with the understanding that the world itself is not what we think.

The world seems to be the normal world we know, but under the surface lie  wondrous and terrible secrets. Mad geniuses obsess over strange inventions, and battle rivals for rare subjects or petty pride. Cults conduct stranger rites than anyone suspects. Reports of hauntings draw investigators to seek out evidence of life after death. Shapes spotted in the distant sky dance in the air in ways nothing made by man or nature move. Campers report sightings of creatures neither animal nor man stalking the woods. Men in black suits intimidate witnesses into silence. And sometimes, someone going out is never seen again, swallowed up by the corners of the world.

No matter the truth, humanity has developed a powerful technique to study what evidence can be found: Science. If something can be observed, if it can be held and examined, science can find the answers. But only if someone asks the right questions.

Players should be prepared for a sandbox-styled game of urban fantasy that allows scientific inquiry.  Because let's face it, you want to fight monsters with SCIENCE!

This is NOT a game about debunking magic and the supernatural.  Strange things exist, and while the principals that allow them to seeming break the laws of physics can be studied, they are beings who are attuned to a real power.  Magic is a real force; it can be studied, but is not mere trickery.

This game is rated adult, out of the possibility of monster dissections, mutations, and grotesque transformations.  This will not be frequent, or a focus of the game, but simply a possibility.

Weird Science and the Corners of Reality uses the Savage Worlds Adventure Edition, but as a set of solo games, each player's system is negotiable.  (I don't like WoD, but Unisystem or even GURPS will do.)
