Alyssa Tealeaf was tiny, short even for a halfling, weighing no more than a bushel of onions, and very young, though not as young as she looked. She was fair-haired, which was rare among her people, her skin somewhat pale, and it was not unusual for her to carry a smudge of dirt across her face or small leaves caught in her hair. Alyssa favored greens and browns, and her favorite cloak was both, with a leaf-like embroidery in thick yellow thread. Her expression was frank and pleasant, usually, with a bright and curious gleam in her light brown eyes. She was too often self-conscious of her ears, which were a bit large, and she had given up the hope that she might grow into them. Nearly everywhere she went -- and she went many places! -- Alyssa carried her hunting bow, and just recently she had taken to carrying a short blade as well -- something more than a dagger but less than a sword.
