Orlin Windsong

At 6'11" and 220 pounds, Orlin is big brawny and muscular with long braids trailing off his head and face.  He wears a worn but clean linen shirt tucked into a wide belt with tools in it.  His right arm is a prosthetic and he walks with a limp.  His voice seems gruff but when he sings as he is piloting on foggy days it echoes off the buildings with a poignant beauty.  And he uses the echoes to navigate where others can't.  There is a noble kindness to his demeanor and his ship runs like none other, bobbing into tight spots with ease.  His knee high boots and baggy cargo pants, the mark of his trade, are well kept, but no strangers to work.  He caries a large sax knife in his boot, a double barreled shot pistol in his belt, and a bearded axe on his back.  As war like as this looks, the axe is for cutting ropes, the knife is used only utilitarian, and almost no one has ever remembered seeing him draw that pistol.

Orlin's people sailed the seas until the first airships, then they took to the skies.  His parents had a resturant on a sky barge, and would tie up to a building for land born people to to enjoy a hearty meal on deck ore link up with ships to cook for the crew.  His father was an excellent pilot and took a comission with the sky navy of some country leaving Orlin, his sister and his mother to manage the business  With Orlin doing Air ship repairs on the side to make ends meet.  In time Orlin himself was conscripted leaving his family to fend for themselves.  They did well, then sudenly Orlin stopped hearing from them.  He resigned his comission and bought a decent little craft to follow their trail, but it went cold in this city so he plies the skys hoping for some word of his family.

As the Guild leader, but not the master of the Wind Hound Shipping guild, Garrat has connections with all walks of life that use their services.  Even the occasional thief who is looking to rob one of the arrogant merchant lords might find himself on a wind-hound barge waiting for the chance to drop onto the right rooftop.  Most folks leave the shippers to their business, as the Hounds can be loyal to those who are kind to the.

Details on his air ship
The Jern Vinge is a interesting craft.  It can be sailed by Orlin alone, but works much faster and more efficiently with several Journeymen helping him out.  Built like a narrow sailboat in frame with two keels, one on either side of the engine frame, it is made up of Five sections:   The first is its metal heart.  This holds a 16 cylinder sterling engine, and pair of bays for hydrogen tanks, close to the Jern Vinge's center of gravity.  Heat sinks around the engine recycle the energy and prevent it from scalding the light weight wooden framing  that made up the sides and deck of the ship.  The steel frame tapers off aft running supports under the command deck at the stern of the ship and cradling the stairwell that drops down to take passengers from street level.
