Marcus is nearly six feet tall, with light brown hair, blue eyes, and skin that seems to tan rather easily. His broad shoulders hint at his muscular physique, though his hands are soft and steady, and appear to be used to delicate work. He has a strong baritone voice that seems to punch through thin walls as if they weren't even there.

He often moves in a way that could be considered deliberate, though he appears rather graceful to those who observe him. The inventor tends to dress fashionably, which to him generally means a dark, tailored suit with a proper hat (usually a Bowler, Derby, or Fedora). He always has a watch with him, and often has a few other accessories that hint at his love for clockworks and inventions.

Marcus is generally easy going and patient. He seems happy to let others begin conversation and provide some direction, though the engineer always seems eager to get to know new people and discuss things that are of interest to him or his friends.

Those that have connections or do some research can relatively quickly find information on the Edgewater family. They are in the textiles business and are based in Oldham. Marcus is known to have been an officer in the British Army during the Great War.

Marcus also owns a store called Ticktock, which is where he tries to sell his inventions. He also offers his services doing repairs of existing machinery of all sorts. He appears to have significant expertise with regards to the Stirling Engine, and many of his inventions use that technology to produce and utilize steam.
