Thoth-Amon, the greatest sorcerer in the world, lived as a slave in Aquilonia until he freed himself. The cult of Asura in Aquilonia is known to treat its slaves well, though they’re often put to unpleasant uses, such as piloting the boats of the dead down the Khorotas river. The people of Gunderland, however, keep no slaves and find even the mere idea of slavery to be distasteful. This is one of the causes of dispute between the two countries.
