Killer Croc

Name: Sobekneferu
Aliases: Sobek, Croc Girl, "Bunker Bitch" (from good to bad)
Age: 19
Physical Description:

It would be correct to state that Sobekneferu stands at a height of 5 ft 8. This is because she has a long tail, making her total length tip to snout 12 feet, and due to the altered center of balance that brings requires her to lean forward quite a bit while walking in order to not trip over her own tail. This is to the point where a full run is done on all fours, using her tail for additional balance. Her total weight equals 482 pounds, giving her a, for her species, lithe build.

For a mutated crocodile (Crocodylus suchus for you bookish types) her face is oddly humanoid, though it takes but a glance at her sharp teeth, each far bigger than a human's, to realize that this is but appearance. As an albino, her body lacks the ability to produce melanin, leading to a white skin and reddish irises. It is perhaps a blessing that she is not human, and thus lacks the related problem of getting sunburnt during the day.

This however also means that she was not raised human, and as such lacks the moral and social inhibitions that come with experience to those living in a (semblance of) human society. This is shown in her clothing, which may be regarded as little more than an attempt to emulate what she sees around her.

Biography:

Sobekneferu was born as part of a pod of crocodiles. When she hatched, she did so with around fifty brothers and sisters, a quarter of them showing mutations due to the lightly irradiated sand the nest had been in. When, a few months later, she was old enough to fend for herself, she and her two remaining brothers* left the nest, each trying to find their own hunting spots to compete for, though they chose territory adjacent to one another to reduce the chances of getting chased off by an older and stronger crocodile.

Things continued as they were, until the moment Sobekneferu caught and ate a Lorekeeper. He had carried with him in his pack a document of sorts and, while she could not read the scribbles, this one had pictures. It showed... beings like her, wearing coverings she had seen some humans wear, which flared up her curiosity. While she considered her brothers her brothers, she was intelligent enough to realize that she looked nothing like them, or any other crocodile for that matter. And so, she put on the torn scarf of the man she had eaten, and set out to find the mythical tribe the document spoke of.

she soon found out that hunting on land was a lot different than hunting in the water. Where first she could simply lie in wait below the surface for an animal to quench its thirst, now she had to actively chase them. Observing her prey run away, she too tried to teach herself to run, mimicking what she saw around her. It took numerous tries, and during her self-training she remained close to a river in order to feed on fish while tired, but she eventually got the hang of it more and more until she had one day reached the point where she was confident about her ability to hunt enough to feed herself during her journey.

Due to her obvious mutations, most humans would not give her the light of day, though there were some -- often sporting visible mutations themselves -- that seemed less territorial around her. This first village is where she learned another important lesson: Eating something that can talk makes life difficult, and is to be avoided where possible, especially when they outnumber you. So, when she reached the next town, a little worse for wear, she decided that the next thing she would have to learn was how to 'talk'. And so, she listened, and tried to learn by association in much the same way the land animals had once 'taught' her how to run like they did.

The second town was more welcoming, led by a group of mutants that were overall kind people, and cared for the settlement. One day, human refugees showed up, and they too were welcomed into the fold. Word spread, as rumor often does, and the human refugees began growing in number, beginning to put a strain on what the settlement was able to maintain from its surrounding area. When the call was made to stop accepting refugees, the humans, by now outnumbering the mutants, responded that in order to make room, the mutants would have to go. Due to the community being peaceful, the fighting was over quick, and when Sobekneferu returned with her share of the day's fresh catches, she found the humans did not welcome her. She tried her luck at Wayne Tower, but failed to even get close before being threatened to get shot.

So, now again homeless, she made her way out of the city, until she came across an abandoned bunker, its entrance buried under rubble from a collapsed building. Seeking a way in, she found that a nearby river went underground, and soon discovered that the submerged area led within. Half submerged and without supplies, its original occupants had died a slow death due to the door outside being blocked by the rubble. Coming from the mountains there was no fish to be found in the river, but there was plenty of clean water for her to live in, and the air filters were still functional as well -- though she did not understand the technology behind it.

And so, she -- to use a saying -- bunkered down, and formed her own little place where humans were not allowed, still remembering all too well what had happened to the other settlement. Aware of the lack of food, and not wanting to leave her home undefended, she will trade clean water from the river for food with the local mutants. Humans she refuses to trade with, and the occasional raiders trying to break in are generally dealt with by circling around through the river. At the very least, they are a nice addition to her food supplies.
