Dr. Fate

Name: Angelina Lee
Aliases: Doctor Fate, Sorcerer Supreme, Leader Of The Lords Of Order
Age: 22

Physical Description:
Standing at not even five feet tall, Angelina Lee is a woman of equal parts Mediterranean and East Asian descent; with long, moderately wavy raven hair and lightly tanned complexion, almond shaped eyes of hazel and a fit but curvaceous body that belies her much smaller size from a distance and gives the illusion of a much taller, more statuesque individual.
Whilst wearing the Helm Of Fate she is far more imposing, visibly muscular and wearing the blue and gold of the primary Raiment Of Fate, though she does not possess the other Raiments Of Fate; just the helm and main suit.
Her body literally glows whilst in the form of Doctor Fate, though she can suppress this at will.

Biography:
Angelina used to be quite the rebel and has a reputation for taking the first option available to her, with a lack of general street smarts and general caution that would have come with age had the bombs not gone off. She was once regarded as “spunky” by those who knew her before the bombs but has since fallen into being a lonely, depressed state of begrudging survivalism wherein she is all too aware of how everyone she’s ever known is either dead or mutated beyond saving. Her days consist of getting up from her impromptu shelter, traveling along the ruins of the wastelands to gather any information or material she might need, use the helm to protect herself and others if need be and then rebuild a shelter with magic before sleeping and doing it all over again; gradually heading toward Gotham. While she is a confident individual without the Helm, not held down by the idea that “The Helm Makes The Woman,” she is often distant with those that want to get to know her and outright rigid in the presence of anyone else; stuck in the paranoia of living alone in the wastes.

Whilst wearing the helm but not holding the Identity Of Doctor Fate Angelina is many times smarter and more educated than she would otherwise be due to a direct link to the Helm’s source of knowledge. She can answer most questions that she wouldn’t otherwise be able to given enough time and this overwhelming sense of understanding can calm her and offer a sort of stopgap for some time to her general anxiety and paranoia. At the same time, the more she uses the helm the less compassion she tends to exhibit and the more gruesomely pragmatic she becomes, appearing to many like a high functioning sociopath once they see the measures she’s willing to go to in order to seize order wherever she goes.

Unlike many previous Fates, Angelina generally prefers to not to maintain the Identity of Fate whenever possible, as it puts enormous strain on her just to keep the form without the benefit of the previous Raiments of Fate or the intense training she requires to use more advanced magic without overloading herself. Generally the Helm is carried at her side, attached to her belt.

Negative Personality Traits:
Headstrong / Reckless - Angelina has little care for what others think, doesn't often think a given encounter through before acting and often overestimates her situational power. She is consistently tactless and does not learn combative lessons very quickly, often heading into situations without preparation or thought. Because of her complete lack of life experience as well as the emotion blocking side effects of the helm she does not usually feel the distress of defeat and this keeps her from learning from failure.

Distant / Withdrawn - While once a spunky young woman, Angelina has isolated her heart and mind from others in the three years since the bomb went off. She can be talked to but she's always got her mind on something else and shuns normal social affairs. She's always hiding something from even those who might call her friend. Social and Emotional Interactions are merely currency to be traded back and forth and she's grown quite miserly with such capital.

Cynical / Paranoid - Angelina has no faith in anyone or anything but herself and the helm's overarching order, living by the attitude that the rest of the world had their chance and now it is her job, nay, DUTY to put it back together piece by piece; to distrust the rest of the world and see it as a failed experiment that needs to be put right by those with the power to do so. While she might well respect those she finds to be orderly and capable, they are all potential enemies in her goals of making the world an orderly utopia and their plans will surely fall short of the knowledge stored within the helm.

History:
Having been born to a single, upper-middle class mother and growing up just between Chinatown and Upper West Side Gotham, Angelina Lee grew up almost completely normal; having had a good education, engaging social life and generally adequate opportunities. She planned since very young to run a bakery and make things with her hands for a living and there was very little to change her mind on the subject as she went through school, having had a supportive parent who was always willing to try her newest culinary experiments even when they were obviously bad.

However, when the bombs went off and the apocalypse came she was swept away in it just like anyone else; seeing her greatest heroes fall in the event that led to the end of the world as she knew it. Not only her greatest heroes died, however, but also her mother and friends. She had nothing left after all was said and done.
Almost Three years went by and Angelina wandered the wastes in a timeless depression; barely staying alive, shunning the contact of others and following a strange feeling that she just couldn’t put her finger on. She grew careful and paranoid and overtime distant from everyone in general. She would only interact with others to trade for the sake of survival.
Before long she felt the sickness start to touch her; the radioactive particles in the air, the taint of the food and water she’d been made to consume since the event brought down everything she’d ever known. She soldiered on as she knew she had to, pulled by the feeling of missing something… by the feeling of longing in the direction of a broken tower in the wastes outside Gotham.

When she finally dug through the garbage and the rubble to find what had been pulling her for over a year she was greeted by a simple, yet ornate helm. Upon putting it on out of curiosity to see if it fit she found that it was none other than The Helm Of Fate!
Filled with the power of order and the knowledge of the cosmos, her depression and uncertainty quelled by the power of the helm, she healed within days; the sickness a factor of chaos and having no chance against the source of order that was the Helm Of Fate.

And when she looked through the Helm she became aware that she was far more than merely human.
Magic had existed powerfully some centuries ago. It still existed and there was a gift inside of her to understand it, to understand the gifts that this Helm brought to her. This was a tool of order and against it stood the powers of Chaos! She and she alone might be the only thing standing against the Age of Chaos and the nothingness of human extinction.
Within the helm was a magnificent library of information that she could call upon if only given enough time.
With it the first things she learned was how to make food, power and water. She would no longer consume the taint of chaos in any form! She would not abide by the anarchy of the wasteland. She made up her mind to collect her power, learn what she could and return to Gotham to overturn the Wayne Foundation and bring proper order to the masses as a whole.

And if they had a problem with that… the world had seen what rule by the masses had led to. Now was too late for that sort of thing! The world needed a firm, autocratic hand to hold it steady; a strong arm to sweep free the filth and chaos of the wasteland. The world needed to be fixed and nobody else knew how to fix it. She alone possessed the magic and now the knowledge to put it all back together again. So long as the numbers matched up, anything could be done to regain order. After the world was repaired perhaps then and only then she would allow the masses the power of their own lives again but for now she was the World’s Only Lord Of Order! She Was The Healer Of Their Destinies!
She Alone Could Be The Doctor Of Mankind’s Fate!

... And as she continued to meditate on the knowledge inside the helm, as she continued to use her magic both to survive and to empower herself, these thoughts prevailed over all others.
The world no longer needed happy emotions like compassion and affection from a leader. These trivialities had failed humankind and she could have no patience for them anymore.
All systems needed to have backups. All obstacles needed to be cleared. There were no petty feelings of sympathy or compassion to be felt in this world. She would cast those things out with the aid of the helm and construct a strong structure under which all would live productively in safety and prosperity.

Powers - Personal & Passive Sorcery:
Spells - The first and most primary arsenal of Doctor Fate is a truly phenomenal pool of potential spells to be able to cast at any given moment. While she does not have the Amulet of Anubis and must therefore rely on her own magical energy reserves to fuel her spells, the helm can provide her with encyclopedic knowledge of nearly any spell that exists, even ones that would consume her very soul as fuel for their reactions. With her powers of personal sorcery she can blast people with energy bolts, teleport them away, teleport herself through combat short distances, leap great distances, fly for short periods of time and summon forth all manner of other effects, normally with the visual effect of a Broken Ankh. (though this visual effect is not strictly universal) These spells do not require incantation or gestures to perform.

While almost any spell that would benefit her in combat requires her to don the Identity of Doctor Fate she CAN summon food and water as well as provide power to an abandoned building at this point essentially without spending any magical power at all, even without holding The Identity Of Doctor Fate. With Some magical effort she may produce shelter or purify the local air without donning the Identity of Doctor Fate as well.

However, the magical power of Doctor Fate comes with some pretty hard checks.

The Helm Is Like The Internet Without A Search Engine. It holds the answer to almost any question one could think to ask but also maintains such vast volumes of information that searching through it for anything coherent is difficult and time consuming even for someone who is magically talented like herself. Much of Angelina’s time with the helm on is not even in the form of Doctor Fate, merely meditating on the questions she has to ask and puzzling through the myriad answers that the helm can provide. Sometimes the answers can be obvious but at other times she hits walls of static that cannot be penetrated and leave her irritable and headachey. Sometimes the answers are intelligible but too quiet in her mind to properly hear. Thus far she does not know yet how to kill the interference or turn up the volume respectively on these mental walls nor does she even know where the static must come from.

If she tries to cast too many spells in a small period of time, cast too powerful a single spell or simply reach beyond her limits she is subject to becoming depowered and loses much of her spellcasting abilities immediately until she rests.

Most of all, The Magic of a Lord Of Order is Not the Magic of a Lord Of Good! (Called "Order =/= Good" For Short!)
While The Helm Of Fate treats Angelina’s depression, paranoia, misanthropy and general anxiety it also slowly saps away her ability to feel compassion, affection, love and familial attachment. The more magic she uses, especially whilst properly holding the identity of Doctor Fate, the more inclined she is to err on the side of pragmatism in any given scenario as opposed to considering the feelings or well being of individuals involved. She ends up considering the safety of others less as well as caring less about the social norms or cues the more magic she uses.

Heightened Intellect / Understanding - Simply Wearing the helm periodically makes one leagues more intelligent. Having the helmet near provides her with information she might not have had available before and overall being Doctor Fate gives her the potential to know far more than she ever could without its partnership. Because of this Angelina learns academic concepts more quickly than her base Intellect would otherwise dictate.

Orderly Body - By being linked directly to a Lord of Order, broken or not, Angelina’s body is more enduring and orderly than it would otherwise be. While she does not gain the strength or other such magical abilities that would be available to her were she to complete her training she is still immune to disease, age, radiation, mundane poisons and other environmental effects that would lethally damage most human beings. Her connection to order also heals her body more quickly (though not visibly) and ensures that her body ultimately stays in proper working order even under stress and molestation. She sleeps less and more soundly, breathes more easily and regains stamina faster than the average person even without holding the identity of Doctor Fate.

Telekinesis - Though it pales in comparison to the power she holds whilst wearing the Helm Of Fate, she is able to use her magic to lift objects of comparable size and weight to the Helm if she is separated from it, allowing her to summon it to her person from almost anywhere so long as she waits long enough. While she cannot travel very quickly even as Doctor Fate due to a lack of fast flight or superspeed the Helm can attain great speeds in coming to her, much faster than other objects could be moved with her telekinesis. (See Mjolnir)
It is not advised anyone gets in the way...

Resources!

Abundant:
Food
Water
Power
Angelina can easily summon good food, clean water and power a building of nearly any size for twenty-four hours at a time if need be by simply snapping her fingers when wearing the Helm Of Fate. These absolute basics are so integral to Nabu's Agenda that they take no foreseeable energy for Doctor Fate to create, at least on a more personal level.

Sufficient:
Shelter
Air Filters
In almost an identical way to how Doctor Fate can summon water, food and power into existence with a simple spell, she can construct shelter and clean the air around her/produce air filters from the aether if need be, though this is considered much more taxing for her and she can't extend this sort of benefit to large groups of people for very long.

Deficient:
Raw Materials - While she can produce food, water and even more advanced basic items like Air filters with magic, Doctor Fate cannot simply create metal or bricks or those much more heavy and usable things for appreciable amounts of time, nor in sufficient quantities to be of any use to anyone.
Transportation - Doctor Fate doesn't own any transportation and cannot transport any large amount of people or gear for any amount of time. IN A PINCH she might be able to teleport a group of people or stuff away but this is not a sustainable method and it cannot transport people very far, merely out of immediate danger. Her ability to move many things or people long distances is functionally nill. She generally travels by foot.
Weapons - While Angelina Lee herself understands the basic operation of things like Firearms and other weapons she cannot make them and does not have any way to get them. The idea of procuring weapons for anything is almost a foreign concept to her.
Workforce - Doctor Fate works alone much of the time. Most of her MO happens to lie in self sufficiency so she doesn't make a habit of needing to collect allies or cronies or anyone to work for her. Paired with her general lack of charisma and overall paranoia she has few friends or allies to call on in life.
Manufacturing - Having nobody but herself to rely on ensures that Doctor Fate also has nothing in the way of facilities to manufacture goods or convert raw materials (which she also has none of!) into useful items.

Stats:
Parenthetical Stats”()” Are Angelina’s Stats Without The Helm Of Fate

Strength: 2
Durability: 5 (3)
Agility: 4 (2)
Speed: 2
Intelligence: 5 (3)
Wits: 4 (2) (Angelina’s uses a 2 for matters like Street Smarts and Snappy Comebacks. The 4 Wit specifically does not apply to these things due to the Helm suppressing Angelina’s emotions, humor and social inclinations. Therefor Angelina merely uses her stock wit when dealing in social interactions. She MIGHT get her full Wit in places and with people that are more orderly or with people who know and appreciate the idea of Doctor Fate but Angelina’s overall Social Skills should be considered WOEFULLY inadequate for most of the socially based scenarios in this game. Doctor Fate’s 4 Wit otherwise ONLY applies to in more combative situations when considering reaction speeds, puzzle solving, etc etc)

While wearing the Helm Of Fate as Doctor Fate Angelina is a veritable powerhouse capable of standing in line with other supers easily; possessing nigh invulnerability, superhuman reactions (both mental and physical) and near unfathomable knowledge of almost anything in the cosmos.

HOWEVER, because of the amazing power that the Helm Of Fate possesses, it puts enormous strain on her magical reserves just to maintain the Identity of Doctor Fate. Without The Cloak Of Destiny she cannot naturally fly, resist fire and is no more physically strong than she would be without any raiments at all except with spells (which themselves require concentration and magical power) and without The Amulet Of Anubis she does not possess enough raw magical energy to use spells that breach the dimensions or utilize large scale time effects, with even localized spells that influence time, life, death, the weather or deal immense amounts of damage able to stress her magical reserves and depower her; severing her connection with the helm until her physical form is able to recover through rest. Because of her relatively low magical reserves she can generally only hold the true form of Fate for a duration of seconds
