Fairly tall and strong, his education has been both by book and by experience in balanced proportions; Malcolm is solid, down to earth capable of appraising a situation and has the leadership and skills to deal with it. He has a good knowledge of surviving in the field and a better knowledge of the local roads, paths and geography in general.  He is not hung up on his rank, which he sees as a duty, not an entitlement and is always interested in new things, people and places.
