Looks: Pearl is a curvy young woman with long wavy chaotic brown hair which grows so thick rain rarely reaches her scalp and large chocolate brown eyes.  She likes bohemian and coloured clothing, favouring brightly coloured patterned fabrics in contrasting colours. In part this is to rebel as much as she is able.

History: Pearl's father is a preacher and community figure who rules a large family with an iron fist like his own father before him. She has 3 brothers, all older, and a younger sister as well as two uncles who follow her fathers lead and their 6 children, her cousins. Her upbringing was strict and repressive under the shadow of her faters explosive temper and the frequent brushes with the law. Despite being the centre of the community her family feuds constantly with the Marshall family and it is a rare day that there isn't a clash between members of the family or her fathers community and the Marshalls. Pearl has been attacked on several occasions and faces constant threat from the Marshalls. It all goes back to her grandfathers generation and something that happened in a small mining town in the hills.

What her family must never find out is that she lost her virginity to Shaun Marshall underneath the pier after her high school prom. Her own date, Tom a part of her fathers congregation, having been arrested for fighting with Luke Marshall. Now she is being threatened by an anonymous number to reveal this secret and it looks likely blackmail will soon follow. Using an excuse to visit her maternal grandmother she has found herself on a rattling old bus, sadly lacking air conditioning, on the way to the small mining village to try to find out some answers before her secret ruins her life.
