The Codex Malum

Faerûn, a vast continent on the planet of Abeir-Toril . A place where monsters roam, and where a myriad of races make their home. From the Frozen North, to the Sword Coast, the Dalelands, and then eastward to Thay - adventure awaits. Death too, if one is not careful. The Adventurer's Guild is a vast network that operates all over the continent, the members charged with doing what they can to keep the common folk safe. If you need a caravan guarded, or ruins explored, or even if you need to try and recover stolen property, it is likely that you've hired someone from the Guild. Each major city in Faerûn has a branch, and they tend to take their own specific name. They often work together, though do sometimes find themselves at odds, not only between each Adventurer's Guild, but with local Thieve's Guilds or even others.

This story begins in Waterdeep, a sprawling city set on the Sword Coast. Home to nearly two million souls, the City of Splendors is a major hub for The Realms, as Faerûn is known. The Adventurer's Guild here is known as "The Bracers" and their membership is as varied as the city and surrounding environs they serve. Made up of not only stalwart warriors and wily rogues, The Bracers have in their number some magic-users of renown and clerics wielding divine power. The Bracers keep the location of their hall secret save for members, though contacting them is easily done through various avenues; temples and libraries, taverns and shops. Bills can be posted on approved boards and sites throughout the city, and most that seek out the Bracers are the ones that are found instead. Posing as Bracer brings with it a punishment unto itself, and though few know the details it can be truly said that those impersonating a Bracer, and caught, are rarely seen again.
