Known Background: Earl grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and joined the US Navy as a Corpsman in 1963. After completing of his corpsman training Earl was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment which was one of the first large units to be sent to Vietnam. After his first tour in Vietnam, Earl applied for SEAL training, and made it through the grueling section process. Earl returned to Vietnam in 1969. After serving two tours in Vietnam as a US Navy SEAL, Earl left the Navy. Civilian life did not suit him well and not long after his brother Ralph was recruited by UNIT, Earl himself was recruited.

Earl assist fields teams primary as a medic, but also has extensive language skills and can operate airplanes, helicopters, boats, and SDV's (Swimmer Deliver vehicles).

Known Family Background: Earl has a brother Ralph who served as a Green Beret in Vietnam before being seriously injured and was then subsequently recruited by the UNified Intelligence Taskforce.
