Isenarra 'Isa' Kellen

Name:  Isenarra “Isa” Kellen

Occupation:  Beastmaster

Actual Age/Apparent Age:  100/23

Gender:  Female

Sexuality:  Depends on the person asking

Race/Species: Half- Wood/Forest Elf/ Half- Human

Coin Event -Plus Octopus Gift: People feel deeply uncomfortable whilst trying to swindle you for money. Suddenly, you notice that the prices of anything you buy are far more reasonable than they were before.

Appearance:  Isa did not gain the height of her elven side, but rather the shorter stature of her human side, standing around 5’8”. While she may be shorter, she carries the leaner grace of her elven half, small but not weak in the least. She is built for speed and grace, often finding others enticed by the way she moves, though chooses to ignore it. Her dark brown hair falls in waves around her face, framing the soft features and hazel eyes. One does not expect her eyes given her darker features, and they often catch people off guard, as bright as they can be. Her ears come to a point, but not nearly as enhanced as a full blood elf, and rarely poke through her hair. Her lithe form is usually covered by a heavy mantle, even in the summer, but then there is often a falcon sitting on her shoulder.

Personality: Isa was gifted her father’s agility and her mother’s snark. There were other things she got from either parent, however, and some she picked up all on her own. Isa can be quiet, often surprising people with a sudden quip when they might not have realized she even joined them from her quiet steps. While she doesn’t intend to walk quietly, it is part of the elf half of her that she cannot seem to shake. In contrast, her snark is rarely quiet, almost as if her mouth makes up for her feet.

She often has at least one animal of some sort around her, and if she’s angry or in a fight and that animal cannot be seen, her opponent might want to look for it. Isa never quite understood why she can speak with them so easily, and why others find it so difficult to understand them sometimes, but she accepted it, and found a way to make it her trade. She will train any animal any way a client desires, unless it can be considered abusive in nature, and all the powers that be help whoever abuses one of the animals she’s trained and she finds out…

Isa is protective of those she cares about, loyal to those that earn it, and while she might have been a bit of a loner in the past, that part of her only sometimes peeks out. She is clearly more comfortable around those in her circle, but is willing to reach out to others, though don’t be surprised if she greets your pet lizard before she does you. It’s nothing against you, personally, but likely the animal has said hello to her first, and at that point it’s really only polite.

A point to note, due to how she grew up, Isa is extremely wary of people in general, but more so of those with elven blood. Having never been accepted by either side, really, she found that the elves were...while not less kind, more of a threat due to their nature, so her ability to let them in tends to take far longer than others. It can cause her to come across as rude, or mean, when really it is a distinct lack of trust, more akin to an abused animal lashing out than anything else.

Trust from Isa does not come easily, or quickly in many cases. But once the secret has been unlocked and one finds their way in, she becomes almost an entirely different person. Where she can come across as cold and mean, once someone earns her trust, she is as warm and friendly, helpful and giving, providing two drastically different ends of a spectrum. Getting there, however, can be the hard part.

Abilities/Skills:
Speaks with animals - Yes, full on conversations. While she speaks her part aloud like any person would, what she hears back is less defined to anyone else, but just as clear to Isa, allowing her to know exactly what the animal wants or needs while others can usually only guess. As clear as the conversations she as are, this is not a telepathic ability.

Basic First Aid - from her time spent in the forest alone, Isa is adept at knowing how to care for injuries, prevent infections, and treat some minor sicknesses using what can be found in nature.

Tracking - because she knows animals so well, they are very easy for her to follow, and this skill has transferred over to people as well. She understands trails left behind in a way most don’t.

Archery/Throwing knives - Can aim and let out a shot fast enough that it barely looks like she did either, and is skilled enough that she rarely misses.

Swordsmanship - Isa isn’t as good with a sword as with a bow or knives, but can hold her own when needed.

History:  Isa was born of an Elven father and human mother, a match made from love more than planning, though her mother was never welcomed among her father’s people. She spent her time split between each, and never fitting in anywhere, far too elven for the humans, and far too human for the elves. Isa found her place in nature instead, discovering that the beasts found there weren’t concerned with what made her up, only that she was kind and cared for them.

During her time with her mother, she was schooled in the ways of the land, learning about society and how to be a proper woman. Though, part of what  sparked the love between her parents was the way her mother didn’t take shit from anyone, something Isa picked up fairly easily. She learned that the head on her shoulders was just as good as anyone else’s and by all the powers that be, she was expected to use it.

From the time with her father, Isa learned much different skills. She learned to hunt and track, learned how to use weapons, and found that maybe she wasn’t the only one around that could speak to animals the way she did. However, because she spent so much time outdoors and away from the others that simply seemed to not like her based on what she was, it came a little easier to her than them from all the practice she got.

Eventually, she left home, visiting both parents here and there, but making her way as a beastmaster. She trains animals upon request. Need a bird to track prey while hunting? Isa can train them. Need a pack animal prepared for the desert? She can do that too. Whatever is needed, as long as it does not cause harm or abuse to the animal, Isa will train. Though, if ever she catches word that an animal is being abused, there will be hell to pay.

Other Information:
Name: Wraith

Species: Gyrfalcon

Wraith came to Isa when she discovered him used for hunting, but overused and poorly treated. He was not given the rest between hunts necessary, and kept in poor quality cages with far too little room for the large bird. She beat the owners to within an inch of their lives and took the bird, promising far worse to them if they dared stop her or come after her.

It took her a while, even after that, to gain Wraith’s trust, but by reassuring him and letting him come to her, eventually he learned that she did not save him for a similar or worse fate, but rather understood what he needed, and responded to those needs. She knew he needed a gentle hand and the freedom to be, and also that he did not know how to live on his own.

What she gave him was the freedom to roam as he saw fit, as well as a safe place to be. Wraith had a home with her and had grown fiercely loyal to her. He is often found riding on her shoulder as she walks through the city, and is never far away when not perched there.
