Basil Collins is a doctor of medicine hailing from Bristol, England. He worked as a surgery consultant for the army and spent some time as a Red Cross volunteer in France and Belgium. He was among those that fought against the army's practice of bringing men far from the front before treating them; the sooner they were treated, the more likely they would survive, and that meant moving medical services closer to battle zones - a CCS.
