Liram is the eldest son to Ser William Falwell, a landed knight, and master at arms to the Boltons.  As expected, he followed in his father's footsteps, training extensively from a young age, and becoming quite skilled with the sword and lance.

Tall, but not unusually so, Liram has the muscled build all too common among those who claim warfare as a profession.  In truth, he would be more than a little imposing, if it weren't for the warm smile that never seems to leave his face.  It's a surprisingly odd trait for a knight, and doubly so for one sworn to House Bolton.  That seemingly perpetual smile of his had earned him the title of "The Sunshine Knight" while in the South.  Rather than let the moniker become a source of shame, upon his knighting, he adopted a personal heraldry of a red sun on a pink field.  Now he literally was the Sunshine Knight!

Despite his chosen profession, and perhaps as a side effect of spending so much time with Lyora Bolton, Liram is surprisingly well educated, being a rather avid student of history.  While his preference for military history is very obvious, he's rather studious, and quickly devours any book left within arm's reach.
