Kyan

The Basics
Name: Kyaramiralixan
Nickname: Kyan [KAI-an]
Age: By human appearances, Kyan looks to be in his early twenties. He is older than that, but still young for his kind.
Species: Half-incubus/Half-fae

The Appearance
Weight:
Human Shape: 55 kilograms.
Demon Faun Shape: 58 kilograms.
Centaur Shape: roughly 1000 kilograms.
Height:
Human and Demon Faun Shape: 170 centimeters tall (5'7").
Centaur Shape: 230 centimeters tall (roughly 7'7").
Physical Description: Kyan's default appearance is that of a young, slender man with a beautiful, somewhat androgynous face and pointed, elfin ears. A pair of ram's horns sprout from his forehead and curve back along his head. His legs are slender and digitigrade, ending in cloven hooves and covered with fur all the way up to his waist. Far from coarse, Kyan's fur is silky-soft like that of an ermine. A long, prehensile tail extends from the small of his back, flaring into a slightly flattened, roughly diamond-shaped "spade" at the tip.

His shoulder-length mop of hair is also exquisitely soft to the touch. Its color defaults to black, as does the fur on his lower body. His skin is pale by default, covered in dark, freckle-like spots that seem to change size and shape, and even move around his body and face. Kyan's eyes default to round, black pupils like a human's, with the surrounding iris a brilliant, emerald green.

Kyan's human shape looks much like his default shape does, just with the non-human features either replaced by human equivalents or lacking entirely. The shape is still new to him, and he feels clumsy in it. Walking on his heels is a new experience to him, and the lack of a tail freaks him out more than a little.

In his centaur shape, Kyan's humanoid torso is bulkier than it usually is in other forms, but still lean. The equine portion of the shape is huge, black and ragged, with sharp hooves of polished, solid steel. It is hot to the touch - the hooves painfully so to unprotected human skin, enough to cause blisters - and smells faintly of brimstone.

Kyan's female forms closely resemble the male forms of whichever shape she is in. By default, it will be just a touch shorter than the corresponding male form, with somewhat softer, more delicate facial features. The shoulders a little bit narrower, the hips a little wider, the breasts typically firm and modest in size. She's able to accentuate her features further, but not indefinitely - she won't be able to turn more than moderately voluptuous, at best.

Distinguishing Features: Kyan is a naturally talented shapeshifter, but with a limited repertoire of basic shapes to work from. Each of these is malleable to an extent: He can grow or shrink parts of his body in every shape, but usually to a limited extent - twenty percent or so. Some parts are more malleable than others - the more intimate bits of his anatomy especially, courtesy of his heritage.

In addition to changing his shape, Kyan can also change the color of any part of his body at will, including such things as his hair, nails and horns. The control he's able to exert over this is strong enough to let him create complex patterns, too. His shadowy "freckles" are an unconscious consequence of this ability, and they will often change with his mood, shrinking to pinpricks when he's feeling secure, content and confident, and larger, more shadowy when he's tense. If he feels truly threatened, he'll instinctively try to blend into his surroundings, like a chameleon.

Other fae may easily mistake Kyan in his default shape as some kind of faun, and they're not completely wrong - his maternal grandfather was one. A key physical difference is his long tail, which fauns tend to lack.

Where dressing habits are concerned, Kyan has yet to truly develop those. During most of his life he used to wear an 18th century-style formal manservant's outfit with a lot of velvet and shiny buttons - or whatever other (often humiliating) outfit it amused his former master to make him wear. Currently, his wardrobe consists of a green t-shirt and a pair of gray shorts, plus a light gray pair of strange cloth-and-rubber holsters meant to be tied onto these soft, vulnerable human feet (the contraptions are called "shoes", apparently).

The Human
Personality: Kyan is still discovering who he really is. The environment he is accustomed to was one that was often darkly beautiful and sensual, but also emotionally hollow and permeated by an ever-present feeling of dread. He kept his head down, did as he was told and hoped to make the right impressions when it counted and otherwise escape notice. It instilled caution in him, cynicism, indifference to the suffering of others and a darkly morbid sense of humor to cope with the worst of what he saw and went through.

His escape changed much of that. The reawakening of his fey side has ignited new passions in him. The desire to experience life like he hasn't before, a freshly formed curiosity spurring him on to try new things, to get to know other people for the first time, and maybe to figure out what it is he himself wants.

Of course, he'll still be cautious in the beginning.

Kyan's gender is predominantly male, but fluid and dependent on his form. When in female physical form, she largely identifies as female.
Mundane Skills: With a rich, melodic voice that can bridge the full human vocal range and then some, Kyan is an excellent singer. He's a good natural dancer, and possesses excellent stamina. Most of his other mundane skills, such as they are, relate directly to his training.
Occupation: Kyan was trained as a manservant, bedwarmer and castle steward. Until fairly recently, his world consisted of a fortress in the border regions of Hell. Modern human occupations are utterly foreign to him.
Goals: Kyan has several goals:
- Explore his newfound freedom and autonomy. Kyan is still unaccustomed to making his own choices in life and even deciding who he himself is.
- Explore the modern-ish world, and humanity. Kyan has lived a fairly cloistered life. He's still unfamiliar with many human contraptions and elements of modern civilization overall. The concept of living in a house of his own is foreign to him, let alone such things as televisions, fridges and even sports that do not involve torture. Humans themselves in their actual form - not just as damned, tortured souls - are also a novelty to him.
- Develop real emotional bonds for the first time. Possibly romance, but something as simple as friendship will be a new and awesome experience.
- Visit all the places. Meet all the people. Do all the things. Eventually.
Fears: Kyan's single greatest fear is to be recaptured by his lord. Other than that, he still exhibits the near-constant vigilance of someone who has grown up in a place where the most innocuous-seeming creatures, objects and situations might at any moment erupt into a sudden cascade of pain and horror. Thus, his curiosity is heavily tempered with caution.

The Not So Human
Species Description: Half-incubus (father's side)/half-fae (mother's side). Kyan's mother was a nymph, and his maternal grandparents were a faun and a nymph, respectively.
Powers and Abilities: In terms of raw power, Kyan does not possess the sheer might that greater fae or demons do, but he still possesses a wide variety of supernatural skills and magics:

Shapeshifting:

Kyan is an adept shapeshifter, if a bit limited in his repertoire. He can:
- Change the color of any part of his body at will, including creating complex patterns.
- Grow or shrink any part of his body, normally by about 20% in either direction. His genitals are especially malleable, though, courtesy of his incubus father, and can be grown up to triple size or shrunk away entirely if he chooses. He can also give his male sex a more tapered, animal-like shape if he chooses, complete with a furred sheath.
- Grow bat-like wings, granting him the ability to fly (only in humanoid shape).
- Grow gills, letting him breathe underwater.
- Take on the shape of a large centaur. This is an ability his old master taught him, and the centauric shape looks decidedly demonic in nature, with black, coarse fur and steel hooves that are hot to the touch.
- Change his physical sex, all the way to female and back. While he can use this ability to make himself fully hermaphroditic, he prefers not to, as it causes him significant physical discomfort to do so.

Taking on fully animal forms or anything of the sort is beyond his ability.

Other magical abilities:

Kyan is by no means a master wizard, but still has a wide variety of minor spells and magical tricks at his disposal. These include:
- Manipulating light and shadows in an area no larger than a small forest glade or similarly-sized building.
- Minor telekinesis. He can open or slam a door, or make an apple fly from a bowl to his hand, but the range is limited (around 20 meters) and he can't move anything heavier than he could lift with one hand. He certainly can't toss boulders at people telekinetically.
- Minor pyrokinetics. Again, he could light a row of candles, or a fireplace, but not toss fireballs at people.
- Minor illusions. Able to produce both images, sound and smell, but won't hold up to touch. Won't last long past his concentration, either.
- Manipulate heat in an object small enough to be held in one hand. Can bring it down to boiling of down to freezing temperatures (relative to water). It's a gradual process that takes a full minute and requires concentration.
- Mend tears and breaks in non-magical materials - or weaken such a material, making it reasier to break. Requires a minute of concentration, as above.
- Clean up spills and stains, even old ones - or create new ones.
- Kyan actually knows some quite powerful charms and enthrallment spells, but is of course restricted from putting those to full use (if any use at all) while residing on the island.

Special abilities which aren't inherently magical:

- Kyan's tail is prehensile and can be used to hold things or, in a pinch, support himself. It has about the same strength in terms of grip and lifting ability as each of his arms do.
- He has a good singing voice with an excellent vocal range, and can go from deep bass to high tenor without any trouble at all.
- His hearing can detect sounds that are slightly beyond the normal human range of hearing, in both directions.
- Kyan is not a practiced fighter by any means, but is stronger than his frame would suggest. He could potentially do a fair bit of damage in his centaur shape especially - though again, fighting is not his strong suit overall.

Supernatural health:
- Longevity: While he's still very young as both fae and demons go, Kyan already looks younger than a human his age normally would. It's likely he will keep his youthful appearance and vigor indefinitely.
- Excellent constitution: Kyan has never been sick (though he's been cursed several time, courtesy of his old master and his old master's various guests). It's unlikely that any mundane disease would touch him, though some magical ones still might. Being quarter faun he can also hold his liquor well, but is not immune to getting drunk.
- Elemental/environmental resistances: Going by the "standard" D&D categories here, Kyan is practically immune to fire and corrosive fluids, and able to tolerate extremes of heat very well. He's also able to physically withstand cold and electrocution well, though he will still suffer significant pain and/or discomfort from them.
- Regeneration/fast healing: Kyan is able to recover quickly from injuries, and even regrow lost limbs and organs in the span of a couple of days (assuming their removal wouldn't kill him instantly). His shapeshifting abilities can be used to make this process go quicker.
- Elasticity: One of the ways in which the highly sexual nature of Kyan's heritage manifests is in the fact that his orifices are highly elastic and malleable - helped along as well by his shapeshifting abilities and overall training. While he's not a "size queen" as such, he is physically highly compatible with most partners despite his normally slender frame.
Vulnerabilities: Due to his half-demon nature, holy water and similar substances affect Kyan similarly to how strong acid would affect a regular human, causing painful corrosive burns which are hard to regenerate from. Other kinds of divine energy may also cause significant pain and discomfort to him. Thanks to his fae side, he is also vulnerable to cold iron as a source of damage, and will likewise be unable to quickly heal wounds caused by such.

The Story
Character Background: Born the child of an incubus father and a nymph mother who was offered as a tribute to Hell from the Lords of Faerie, Kyan was raised to serve as a consort and manservant to a demon lord. His duties included assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of his master's fortress, as well as entertaining and attending to the lord and his guests. The hours were long, and his master often cruel. He was sometimes assigned to attend various notable guests from other regions of Hell and elsewhere, and some of what they demanded of him took a toll even on a mind so inherently attuned to debauchery as his. Still, he was much better off than the tortured masses of human souls making up the lowest rung of the social ladder (such as it was) in Hell.
How did you come to be at the Island?: One day, a notable prisoner was interred in the fortress dungeon. Either a spy from Faerie who got caught by the demons, or a diplomatic envoy sent on a mission that somehow went wrong - possibly both (Kyan never got the mysterious prisoner's whole story). Kyan was assigned the duty of seeing to the prisoner's upkeep, and over time, the two established a rapport. The prisoner was able to rekindle the until-then mostly dormant fae side of Kyan's soul, and convinced him to assist  and join in their escape from the fortress. Awoken to the possibility of a life free of his master's yoke, Kyan agreed, and the two of them successfully managed to flee Hell, back into Faerie.

Kyan was awarded the invitation to the island as reward for helping the prisoner escape. Incidentally, his stay on the island also allegedly prevents his old master from locating him, hunting him down and reclaiming him.

Who exactly the prisoner was, and whether he or she is also on the island now, is something Kyan either won't or can't speak about. Perhaps he still doesn't know the full truth, himself.
