Background
Thani grew up on an Andorian colony world close to Federation territory. Already deep into development, by Thani's time the colony was ready to begin turning the planet's resources into the next stage of technological advancement, and she was raised around that idea of knowledge becoming whatever power you needed it to be, and turning that power to the good of the community. Unfortunately, her family prided themselves on their cultural achievements as sculptors and poets, chronicling their people's history into legend. Thani would often sneak away from her unwanted lessons to go learn about the newest technological advance or scientific theory, with no qualms about bothering the scientists themselves to hear about their work. Though she couldn't understand most of it, being a child, she was certainly touched by the marvels around her. It was the first step toward the future she wanted.

Fascinated by what she'd learned at home, she enlisted in Starfleet and was drawn to the sciences. Thani was aggressive in her pursuit of results, and was reprimanded more than once for taking shortcuts when it came to safety, while being praised for her unorthodox methods.

An accident aboard her first posting resulted in the destruction of the ship, with the loss of almost 10% of the crew. While the senior staff felt it was their inability to find a solution that brought about the accident, Lt JG Thani blamed her own inability to find answers fast enough. A line of starbase therapists have managed to convince her that the feeling is irrational but also a normal part of being involved in something like that, and Thani returned to active duty after a brief medical leave.

Thani's next assignment had her analyzing the sites of former colonies along the Romulan Neutral Zone, scooped away by the Borg years prior. During the course of that mission, the crew came upon an energy-based life-form that had been living within the power grid of one of the cities, but was left homeless and weakened, barely clinging to life, in the wake of the Borg. She'd befriended it, but it began disrupting the vessel's systems, eventually resulting in danger to the crew itself. On orders from her captain, she was forced to betray the creature's trust to safely contain it, and that blow to her honor still weighs on her.

Physical Appearance
Thani is tall and lean, with powder blue skin and white hair down to her shoulders. Her body is more physically conditioned than one might expect of a scientist, and even under her labcoat, one might expect her to literally pounce on a problem, all coiled energy.
