In the beginning of 2371, the Federation learned of the Domnion and the growing threat they presented. While hoping it would not come, Starfleet began preparing for conflict with the Dominion and the warriors, the Jem'Hadar. Some in Starfleet, however feared that the resultant reallocation of attention and forces towards the Gamma Quadrant would invite trouble elsewhere. Thus, specialized task-forces were developed to maintain a Federation presence. Smaller, more agile and capable of quickly responding to trouble. Cadmus is one such team, located in Deep Space Five near the Typhon Expanse.
