Ledo Typhin

Growing up everyone wrote off Ledo as just another gutter kid. Born into slums to a deadbeat mother and father who spent more time in prison than out. He grew up quickly and at a young age ended up taking care of his younger brothers and sisters while his mom was off chasing her next high. He didn’t always succeed however. Younger siblings died from drug overdose, disease, and gang shootings yet somehow Ledo survived. While his academic performance was mixed due to lack of support at home he was driven to escape the pit of his small neighborhood and see the stars firsthand and not through a screen.

With his younger siblings old enough to take care of themselves he was able to buckle down and focus and against all odds he made it into the Imperium Navy. He dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot and once again hard work and laser focused determination paid off and he was accepted into flight school.

From there he had a storied career. First leading a successful ambush on pirates and then getting galactic fame from the highlights of that campaign. While other officers snubbed him due to his low upbringing and lack of refinement nobody could argue his competency and he rose through the ranks slowly but steadily. Another skirmish, this time with a corrupt faction of the Imperium looking to succeed was enough to thrust him into the Captain’s chair and he commanded a frigate that was central to several engagements.

This time however instead of coming back to accolades and a track to Admiralcy he was taken aside by a group of aristocratic nobles, celebrities, barons and high ranking military officials. They revealed that they were part of the Sang Real, a shadowy cabal that sought to exert control, order and stability on the Imperium. Here, finally, Ledo was confronted with the fact that he did not belong in the Imperium. These nobles moved star systems around like chess pieces, completely ignorant and unfeeling towards the billions of lives at stake with every move. Causing an economic collapse resulting in hundreds or thousands dying from disease and malnutrition was worth it to throw a little egg on a rival’s face and Ledo found himself hating these men and women who he had once viewed as his peers.

He emphatically rejected their proposal and even tried to use his celebrity status to expose them but he was one voice and Sang Real were many. Naval High Command chilled his career, delegating him to the most boring and mundane routes with no path for advancement. Eventually Ledo just got tired of fighting and took early retirement when offered.

His identity lost and shattered he sank into a pit of despair fueled drugs and alcohol. Publicly he sold his story to a media company that spun it into a successful holo serial and from that he became a celebrity by extension. Between parties and interviews he spent years climbing to the bottom of a bottle. It was at one of these parties that he met Tepha and while he slurred out a story about Sang Real she realized that one of the nobles he was talking about was one that ended her career as well.

Brought back to reality Ledo sobered up and after taking stock of his situation resolved to just leave the corrupt heart of the Imperium once and for all. Sang Real was still out there taking every opportunity to make his life miserable and he had no way of fighting it.

During his almost decade of celebrity and drug abuse he had befriended a powerful lord, Baron Von Arger. Von Arger was different from most of his peers in that he had a healthy respect for the common people and was the head of a powerful faction of aristocrats looking to enact meaningful change on the Imperium. More importantly he maneuvered against Sang Real and had sheltered Ledo form retribution many times.

Through Von Arger’s connections Ledo and Tepha were able to secure a loan to purchase a ship and ply the space lanes free and clear of political infighting and corrupt politicians. Ledo decided that after thirty years of playing by the rules he was done and now thinks the Imperium needs to be brought down so that a better civilization can rise from the ashes.

While he doesn’t consider himself a politician or grand leader he does recognize that every criminal act he commits is one more nail in the Imperium’s coffin so urged by Tepha’s recklessness and Silver’s criminal knowledge Ledo is looking to lead his small crew to the dark side of the Imperium.
