BB Nova grew up on an industrial world, the child of a couple of wage slaves trapped in a cycle of poverty. Her parents both worked seemingly nonstop through her childhood without ever seeming to have any money. As an adult reflecting back she suspected that her parents were either criminals or had severe drug problems given a lot of warning signs of erratic behavior and frequent run-ins with the law. Eventually she was removed from their custody and put into a foster system that ground her down. Her teenage years were spent fighting constantly with bullies, wannabe gangsters and abusive foster parents. She managed to pass through lower education with mediocre grads but had no hope for higher education. Givnne her violent past, lack of a family and lack of hope for a higher education she was scooped up by a Naval recruiter and enlisted in the Star Marines.

She ended up doing very well, taking to her duties and being promoted rapidly due to her gutsy attitude. She qualified for several black operations missions and was even trained to be the squads demolitions expert for placing breaching charges. She looked to be a lifer but after 15 years and a disasterous missions that nearly killed her whole squad due to an politically connected but supremely incompetent superior commander she decided to wash out. She would say if asked that she left because there weren't any old marines, just dead ones and she was getting out before her ticket was punched but anyone with access to her records would see she tried repeatedly to get on the officer track but due to her lack of higher education or political connections she was passed over time and time again. After her fourth failure she left shortly afterwards.

She landed on her feet picking up a job as private security for the Madigans, wealthy industrialists whose family sat on executive boards all around the system. She was drawn at random to watch over Nerotes as he "found himself" and now finds herself hopping ship to ship following the spoiled brat as he burns through his parents money.
