Student Bodies - A Monsterhearts Tale
I'd love to try my hand at a Monsterhearts tale.The basic shell of a story would be this: Evil conspiracy at a boarding school. Teens investigate. Craziness ensues.
Other than that - I'm willing to fill in the blanks as we go along. I guess if it needed to have labels, I couldn't argue if it were called a sandbox approach.
But I like Feral better.
The MH book suggests to keep stories "Feral." That is, refrain from imposing a predetermined plot onto the players in an effort to have them react. No railroading, in other words. No beating a square peg into a round hole. Rather, the book lists a set of principles and agendas that should be followed.
If you're doing it right ... even the MC should be a little surprised what direction the tale takes.
After the characters interact with the world a little bit - the principals and the agendas will guide the tale. If we're lucky, the game will then stomp off in its own direction.
This is what I have in mind: Get a few monsters together, throw them into a creepy/mysterious/evil boarding school environment ... and then let a story unfold from there.
