Hailing from an alternate dimension, the Black Emperor had harnessed stolen magic to turn himself into a god and conquer the world. The heroes of that world threw him into an extra-dimensional portal and he stumbled out into Earth Prime instead. Because of the dimensional distance to his magical source of power he is a shell of what he once was albeit still very powerful.

He made a play at conquering this world to use science and technology to replace the power he had lost. He launched his attack sending waves of minions against Freedom City but the heroes once again foiled his plans. The Black Emperor was killed in that fight, killed by Doctor Metropolis using weapons designed specifically to counter the Black Emperor by Daedelus.

Powers and Abilities
The Black Emperor is extremely strong and intelligent who wears an almost impervious set of armor. He has a connection to a void dimension he refers to as "The Black" that allows him to emit bursts of horrific life-draining energy from his gauntlets.

Personality
Typical super villain megalomania. He believes that the world is messy and broken and that people will continue to suffer so long as they don't have a ruler with an iron grip over them to keep everyone in line. He does not condone gratuitous violence but has a very generous definition of "acceptable collateral damage". One thing that sets him apart from other would-be conquerors is that he does not view his underlings as replaceable and does take steps to engender loyalty among his troops.
