Planeta Mortuus

Welcome to Mothership, a sci-fi horror RPG where you and your crew try to survive in the most inhospitable environment in the universe: outer space! You'll excavate dangerous derelict spacecraft, explore strange unknown worlds, exterminate hostile alien life, and examine the horrors that encroach upon your every move. This is very much a horror game set in the cold, unfeeling reaches of space. Think of Alien / The Thing / Event Horizon meets Call of Cthulhu.

This is an unforgiving game. Although your main aim will be to survive, all the odds will be stacked against you. Fights are deadly, and escape often is not only the best tactic, but at times the only sensible one. Surviving is not the only way to finish the game, nor the most likely. If you can't survive, make your death count. Save another soul, save your team, save the Universe. Or just warn them of what is coming for them.

At the beginning of the game, you and your time will board the Novensiles, a Frigate bound for Durocobrivis in the Hibernia system on a transport mission.
The company that hired you, Vis-Ion, did not mention what was transported, but they paid well for your presence on the ship.

I'm a story teller rather than a rules lawyer. The system is pretty simple, so I want to focus on a good story first, and on the mechanics after. Please don't write one-sentence posts, I want to see this world through the eyes of your characters.

The system is very simple, and four classes are available:

- Teamsters are the rough and tumble crew and workers out in space. If Ripley from Aliens is your hero, then you'll want to play a Teamster.
- Scientists are doctors, researchers, or anyone who wants to cut open aliens (or infected crew members) with a scalpel.
- Androids are a terrifying and exciting addition to any crew. They tend to unnerve other players with their cold inhumanity.
- Marines are here to shoot bugs and chew bubblegum. They're handy in a fight, and good when grouped together, but whenever a Marine panics it may cause problems for the rest of the crew.

Send a RTJ with ideas for your character. I'll work with you on weaving your character's story into the setting and the backgrounds of the other characters; this is not first-come first-serve. After enough people have applied, I will select three or four of you to board the Novensiles.
