Ranolf Keelbreaker is known throughout the sword coast as a merciless and blood-thirsty fiend that delights in the fear of his prey as he destroys their ships, dooming them to a watery  grave. He was feared by merchants and other pirates alike until he and his ship, The Krakens Mercy seemingly vanished. 5 years later the stories still remain and there have been sporadic sightings of the notorious Captain though most of the stories are dismissed as flights of fancy. Why would a rich and monstrous Pirate be wandering around as an adventure?

In truth Ranolf's reputation is largely exaggerated and he once prided himself on doing his best to limit bloodshed during his raids. Despite his best efforts however the ale stories spread and his reputation was set in stone.

30 years of looting and plundering ended abruptly and after 5 years he has set out as an adventurer with no sign of the vast wealth he should have hoarded nor any of his crew. His reputation still proceeds him but he does his best to help those whom have been made outcastes or refused aid by common society.
