As dashing as any Imperial Russian cavalry officer of olde, Evgeny Zhukov would be a майо́р by now were it not for his perceived Tsarist sympathies and grandiose personal panache, the later rankling all but the most open-minded Party members (are there any?).  It took a tour in Afghanistan to convince him to lose the cavalry saber in favor of a backup Makarov.  Still, the Zhukov name carries weight, especially in Tank Troops branch, which is how he ended up in the 21st Guards Tank Division.
