(d20) Depths of the Underdark

The shadows of the Underdark have long held a quivering place in the gut of many surface-dwellers. Shadows that seem too long... monsters that seem too grotesque... challenges that seem insurmountable... The Underdark, once one gets past those things, has a life of its own. It is every bit as vicious and brutal as surface-dwellers suspect, but behind the guise of crudeness it displays to the surface-world, the Underdark is a teeming mass of civilization. From massive Drow metropolis' to widely spread Illithid dwellings, the Underdark houses terrifying creatures, and hordes of seemingly pure-evil monsters.

Amongst these hordes of horrendous beasts, however, there are small batches of those that rise against the tides... those that put their considerable skills to use, and crush their way to the top to stand out as an icon amidst the plethora of average beings. Our story follows these individuals on their paths to greatness... to success, or to failure, we will follow these to the end.

As an old GM from RPOL, who originally created (d20) Tides of the Underdark (and then passed it on to a very good friend, who I believe has passed away, thus making it appropriate to make a DIFFERENT game to continue the legacy), I welcome any new, or old, players of DND 3.5 edition. If you are unfamiliar with the rules, please ask, and I will be more than happy to walk you through things. If you are a grizzled vet, like myself, then feel free to only ask when you need to. Either way, what we are offering with this game is an older school-style Dungeons and Dragons game that allows players to experience the sheer brutality of the Underdark in all of its forms. There will be no punches pulled here, no "soft" ideals reached... no, every single creature in the Underdark is looking to beat you, rob you, kill you, and make their name by standing on your shoulders, crushing you. Yes, there is teamwork, but only amongst PCs. Yes, there is rest, but rarely and only between vicious extended battles. We have a game that is very welcoming as a player, but very harsh to your character. Please join us if a gritty campaign full of brutality and death interests you!

Style of game: FOR THE MOST PART party-based, teamwork oriented, but with more individuality. I won't have PC vs PC fighting going on, but I will allow players to be less "gung ho" about one another, as long as it facilitates roleplay. If you're just being a dick (even IN CHARACTER) I will massacre you, and put your head on a pike. If you're bantering and goading, but in the interest of fun roleplay, and you add flavor, you will be welcome here.

In general, your characters will have vastly different backgrounds, but be brought together to handle adventures that are greater than any of them individually. Sometimes its a massive army moving on their shared city. Sometimes a massive amount of treasure can be gained by grouping up: leave that stuff to me. You all just focus on learning how to accurately play your race/class/character, and have some fun with your fellow PCs!
