Lucas Holloway

Name: Lucas Holloway

Age: 40

Gender: Male

Appearance: Short and heavily built (1.60m / 5'4", around 120kg / 260 lbs) as are most heavy world natives. He has short brown/grey hair, a blue right eye and mechanical replacement for his left. Due to a rough young life he appears much older than he actually is with much of his visible flesh chemically burned or indifferently repaired.

Personality: Lucas comes across as a somewhat cantankerous old man, a misconception he encourages to extent of carrying a walking stick. By using the façade as both an excuse to keep a distance and to ensure he is underestimated, Lucas has turned many a situation to his advantage. Those who know him well or have earned his trust find him to be helpful if gruff and with a mischievous sense of humour.

Homeworld: Kearb (CAC8341-9, Strand Subsector of Corridor Sector) is a large planet with its surface mostly covered in seas of ammonia. Wholly owned by the Kearb Exploitation and Development (or KEaD) company, all people are assigned roles in the Rare metal mines or supporting services.

Likes: You will rarely find Lucas idle. Given more than 5 minutes he will have something out to work on or tinker with. Normally some form of weaponry, Lucas carries several projects at anyone time. He collects what he considers "items of unusual utility" ranging from obscure tools, strange weapons or even broken items he can't work out the use for.

Dislikes: Lucas while in a corporate army developed a heavy disapproval of corporal punishment (and corporations). He finds much more effect comes from "creative coaching". Additionally Lucas has a deep distrust of any large bodies of fluid due to the wildlife of his homeworld.

Background: Lucas started out working in KEaD's corporate army, fighting the planets aggressive megafauna to protect the company's mining operations. Due to being the sole employer on planet the conditions were terrible and corruption rife. Not seeing any reason not to, Lucas was frequently involved in illicit deals at the companies expense.

His backroom deals as well as general competence led to his promotion from his heavy infantry role into command of an Artillery position. After 8 years in command he was badly injured when his position was overrun when they ran out of ammunition. During recovery he investigated and found the due to an "Admin error" the ammo was lost. He using bribery and threats he found a brigadier selling supplies off world. He used his evidence to get himself patched up and marked unfit for company duty.

With this chance he enlisted in the navy as a way of getting off planet, originally intending to jump ship at the first opportunity Lucas instead found he enjoyed life in a competent and incorrupt (well relatively) armed service. He used his knowledge from the army and wrangled a position as Chief Petty Officer in his first ship, a Patrol Corvette.

Swiftly becoming enraptured with the heavy weaponry Lucas worked hard and put in for a transfer to a larger ship with larger weapons. Eventually after being commended for his part in a pirate skirmish Lucas achieved a transfer to a Kokirrak-class Dreadnought. I'm his second term the ships mission was unexpectedly extended and supplies began to run low. Lucas began having flashbacks to his section being overrun when their supplies ran out and he began squirreling stores away, just in case.

This went on without issue until a co-worker, angry at losing cards, reported Lucas for unauthorised ammo storage. Facing a dishonourable discharge Lucas explained his fears after what happens on Kearb so he was instead suspended, pending counselling for PTSD. Unknown to Lucas this prompted an investigation into the KEaD corporation resulting in huge fines due to corruption and fraud.

Eventually being declared once again fit for duty Lucas returned to active service aboard the artful.
