Ignat Goggles Ammosmit

As a young child, Ignat Ammosmit got lost following his older siblings and their friends as explored the caverns near their home in the Underdark.  Not knowing which direction lead to the exit, he wandered ever deeper into the caves and somehow entered the Undermountain.
Thanks to his small stature and natural ability to blend in with the rocks, he managed to avoid trouble and eventually surfaced in Waterdeep.

Living off the streets was not easy, and the bright sunlight of the topside hurt his eyes, but he managed to scavenge enough wire and broken glass to create a crude pair of sunglasses.

Ignat regularly found himself being chased by the city watch.  On one such occasion, he was hiding amongst barrels at the docks when he suddenly felt himself moving.  Unable to get away for fear of capture he remained hidden until nightfall.  But by that time he was a stowaway on a ship, where it was heading he did not know.

For several days he remained hidden, eating the ship's rats to survive.  When the ship docked, his hiding place was once again hoisted into the air, this time depositing him back on dry land.  As soon as he got the chance, he fled into the streets.

He soon found out that he was in Baldur's Gate.  Life was just as tricky here, but a chance happening saw a shady figure grab him as he was being chased by the watch.  After an initial struggle, Ignat realised that the person has saved him from capture.  This person turned out to be Musharib.  He taught Ignat the ways of the street, gave him the his street name "Goggles" because of his sunglasses, recognised his natural ability to make endearing little artifacts out of rubbish, and showed him how to sell them in the bustling city.

The small amount of coin he made from this prevented him from falling back into crime and allowed him to create a better pair of sunglasses.  As they approached adulthood, Musharib left for Chult, but the Gods were shining on Goggles.  Not long after Musharib had left, his little stall was frequented by a Dragonborn.  He introduced himself as Faryenas Caydron, and struck up a conversation with Goggles, enquiring about him, his history, and the artifacts he made.

Impressed by the natural talent that had shown through despite a lack of training, and knowing what it was like to grow up without his own real family, Faryenas took pity on Goggles and introduced him to a small workshop run by a Dwarven smith and a Gnomish Artificer, here Goggles became an apprentice.

After many years, he started his own little business making experimental new weaponry.  But business has been poor of late, and experimenting isn't cheap.  So Goggles closed up shop and set off for Chult, in search of his old friend Musharib - and coin, of course.
