Moondragon

Heather Douglas survived a car crash engineered by Thanos, and found herself whisked by Mentor, leader of the Eternals of Titan, to their lunar colony near Saturn. Raised by the Shao-Lom Monks, Heather learned the disciplines of martial arts, and they also trained her in nurturing the hidden powers of the mind. Shortly after her induction as a Priestess, Heather encountered and defeated a psychic demon that called itself “The Dragon of The Moon”. She scandalized her fellow monks when she chose the name “Moondragon” as a tribute to her victory.

When Thanos later ravaged Titan, Moondragon sought help from the heroes of Earth. Her efforts in the rebellion against Thanos introduced her to Captain Marvel I, Daredevil, and the Avengers. Her help counted among the many pivotal contributions in defeating Thanos.

Soon afterward, Moondragon was considered along with Mantis and the Scarlet Witch for the honor of becoming “The Celestial Madonna”, a figure who would give birth to a “Celestial Messiah”. To Moondragon’s surprise, Mantis was chosen and ascended to her new role with an alien consort. This
rejection deeply hurt and offended Moondragon. She lingered with the Avengers for a brief time as an applicant, aiding against Kang and the Serpent Crown conspiracy. During this period, she overcompensated for earlier rejection by claiming godhood, much to the Avengers’ irritation. When they chose their final roster, Moondragon rejected membership, and strong-armed the novice heroine, Hellcat, into becoming her protege.

Over the next few years, Moondragon sporadically showed up in several cosmic crises, most notably against Thanos and Korvac. Her delusions of godhood reached a head when she telepathically conquered a warring alien planet and set herself up as their goddess. A small team of Avengers defeated Moondragon, but not before she slew her father, Drax The Destroyer. Thor told Moondragon that if she considered herself a god, she would be judged as one by Odin.

Odin restricted her psionic powers and remanded her into the custody of the Valkyrie. Returning to Earth with Brunnhilde, Moondragon was forced to live with her diminished power until she learned humility. Although this came to pass, Heather was ultimately seduced by The Dragon of The Moon to
save her life from a terminal illness. The Dragon turned Heather against the Defenders, who paid dearly when several members seemingly sacrificed themselves to stop the Dragon, apparently destroying Moondragon in the process.

Through the confluence of Titanian science and a long lost relative, Moondragon returned to life. Once again, she would enter uneasy working relationships with various heroes: Avengers, Adam Warlock & The Infinity Watch, and Captain Marvel III (Genis Vell). A romance with Genis’ sister, Phyla Vell, softened a few of Moondragon’s harsher edges. Once again, she would die and return to life in her adventures with the Guardians of The Galaxy.

A recent vision during meditation convinced Moondragon that Phyla wanted her to propose marriage with a ring adorned with a rare type of Lapis-Lazuli. The vision further revealed that Phyla apparently hoped that Moondragon would buy this ring through honest labor. Thus, Moondragon faces another test of humility by working as a temp with Squirrel Girl, Speedball, Armadillo, Iceman, & Conan The Barbarian.

Description

Moondragon carries herself with the self-awareness and assuredness of a woman who spent a lifetime cultivating physical, intellectual, and psychic supremacy through the most exacting discipline. Her statuesque physique shows the litheness of an unparalleled “Mistress of The Martial Arts”, her beauty rendered exotic by shaved head and the haughty gaze of crystalline blue eyes. Although her costume has changed over the years, Moondragon frequently wears a revealing skintight green bodysuit that accentuates her sleek body and plays to her six foot height. Capes are optional.
