Gentleman Barracus

Name: "Gentleman" Barracus
Race: Tiefling
Class: Blackguard
Age: 35
Height: 6'3''
Weight: 220 lbs

Appearance:
A handsome devil in battered armor, Barracus is easily distinguished from the rabble of mercenaries by not only his looks and height, but also the aura of absolute command he exudes just as a manner of being.  He tends to stand at 'parade rest' when not acting on behalf of any mission, or his own machinations.  However when he is on those task, he can be anything from the pinnacle of charm, to the height of ruthlessness as the situation requires.

What is Known (Complied for the Thieves' Guild Dossier)
The "Gentleman" is unfailingly polite.  Speaking in a calm, erudite manner regardless of circumstance.  His vices are oddly cultivated.  He does drink and partake in all manner of substances, but never to excess.  He cavorts serially, but always finishes with one before he starts another.  The only place he truly cuts lose is on the battlefield, where he holds himself with a level of bravado and cruelty on par with a pantomime villain.  He's also a talker...which I need not tell you is unusual in this field.  The editor can recommend him for induction, but expresses some concern over what he will do once he gets here.

What is True (Backstory)

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Barracus was born a kingdom or so over.  He was blooded and landed--of the nobility, if you can believe it.  Not sure how high or anything but he apparently took his ties to the land and people seriously.  Seriously enough that when the kingdom was conquered in his childhood, he resolved to free it.

...By any means necessary.

He joined with a sect freedom fighters, learned their ways and inflicted pain and confusion on the occupiers.  But it was never enough, and so he grew more extreme, delving into tactics and powers no man should.

Including invoking the Dark God Bane.

In the short term, he was successful.  But once the leaders of the rebellion saw to what depravity he had fallen.  They forsook him.  Too extreme, they said, too evil...

This was inconceivable to Barracus.  He sacrificed so much for this land, for his people, and they spit on him!

Well, fie on them then!

He left his kingdom to rot.  And wandered for a while...until he wound up here.

Perhaps if the Thieves' Guild knew all of this...they would have done the smart thing and never let him in the door.
