Perfect Seventh Interval Cycle
On the 23rd day of Pharast, the world came to an end.

You remember it clearly. It was late morning, and the sun was out. It was an Oathday, the middle of the week. Katapesh was warm and business, as usual, was flowing rapidly. Everything seemed like it was going perfectly normally. Native or foreign, either way you saw nothing out of the ordinary for a Katapesh day.

You remember what happened next very clearly. There was some subtle feeling that something had gone badly wrong in a way that was not familiar or easy to explain. Perhaps a strange droning noise at the edge of hearing. Or a flicker of movement where nothing was moving. An itching feeling in your teeth. A simple gut instinct that something, somehow, was very, very wrong.

Then the world went white. There was a good deal of pain, a sort of pain that you were not familiar with - as much mental as physical, and with a sense of being unwound or seized in some terrible grip. It felt like a violation on a level so deep and fundamental that words do not exist to describe it.

And then...you opened your eyes to find a misty, pale room. Half-seen insubstantial figures were whisking through the room, perhaps walking, perhaps dancing. They paid you no mind as they passed around and through you. There was a constant murmur of half-heard whispers in languages that sounded alien and uncomfortable.

When things come into focus, a strange being tells you that something has broken, and that you and those with you have been caught in it. With no real explanation beyond that, you are back in Katapesh. It is now midmorning on the 20th of Pharast. It is a Moonday. Everything is as it was before the cataclysm. In just under three days, it will all happen again. And again. And again.

And unless you can find a way to break that cycle, you will be trapped in it, repeating the same 70.9 hour cycle, for what might as well be forever.
