Welcome to The Truth and the Faith - A conspiracy

Balavan

A tall man nearing his thirties, Balavan is broad shouldered and built by the wild. Grey wolves and old green woods can be found in Balavan's eyes when he regards you. Not without humour, Balavan is quick to laugh in good company, but holds a stoic, authoritarian's demeanor when dealing with strangers, very aware of the social order around him and what it provides.

Balavan long ago left the small holdings where he grew up on the border of Albion and Thuland, a convert of the True Faith since his mid-teens. He still quietly respects the old gods of the north and the pagan gods of the wood, though he understands discretion well enough in these dark days.

Balavan is a Freeman and a Forester - though no knight, he's at home in both the wilds and at court. He sees both wilderness and civilisation as works of nature, and thus churches and castles to be as natural as any animal's nest or burrow under heaven. None might be sure if Balavan is without Thuland blood, but he holds himself with Albish authority, as any enforcer of the king's law may when the need calls.

When yet further need calls, Balavan fights with a bear's ferocity. Though he has a strong sense of law and justice, he has no interest in the foolishness of chivalry when it comes to matters of life and death. He will take down a better man from afar if need be, or bloody himself up close without hesitation if it's called for.
