Raistlin Majere

Born the twin of Caramon Majere the two boys could be as different as night and day. The first fight his oldest sister Kitara ever fought and won was for his young life. Raistlin was once a young man with the same hazel eyes and shoulder-length mahogany-colored hair as his twin. Slender as a reed, far more willowy than his larger and broader brother. Raistlin was the brighter of the two by far but suffered in the physical and it was keenly apparent, as was the fact both boy's personalities differed greatly, Raistlin always had the I know something looks on his face even as a child and he spent a great deal of his youth, learning magic tricks and slight of hands, for fun. Raistlin always had that sly look that few could trust and others teased and bullied him about.

Now he is almost painfully thin, always buried within the heavy red cloak trimmed with fur to keep the weather out. A low drawn cowl of the hood hides what has befallen Raistlin in the ten years apart. His once brown hair has become soft snow-colored, and skin that was once pale has become golden, those who touch him or he is touched by can feel the fevered heat of his skin. That is by far not the worst part of his transformation, but rather the golden hourglass eyes, that reflect everything they see, watching as people, places and things grow old and break apart. Aging and withering to him, denying him the beauty in almost all cases. Raistlin has grown accustomed to it at this point and does not often bother to focus on anyone. When he does it often gives people the creeps, and while at one point he lamented it, now he delights in seeing the surprise or horror on another's face when they see his transformation.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Never the most social or well-liked of the people in Solace or Haven, Raistlin always came off as something of a know-it-all. Devouring knowledge and prose of any and all kind. Highly intelligent and very well versed he could hold his own in a conversation with adults, on a subject a boy should not have an interest in. While his twin was busy playing swords, and running around he was reading, learning, and seeking knowledge.

Raistlin learned early on how cruel the world can be to a boy who is not as good-looking, not as strong, and not as enduring as his older brother. He learned what it was like to be different. In many ways, Raistlin's original body is more alien to him than his golden-skinned one. Highly intelligent and well-spoken he speaks in a soft whisper, and often peers at a person as though he can see into their soul. In some ways, he can. If he cared to do so.

He has a streak that seeks power and seeks magic to keep people from teasing and making fun of him. He is still a young man with concerns and worries he's just not the typical man. Raistlin wants to be liked, and if he can't have that he's alright with being feared, at least that is where he is right now. This may change over time. He is the group's expert on arcane things and has been since he was a boy.

Both dreading and looking forward to seeing old friends. Raistlin is an enigma to most of the other companions. He has a great dislike for being bullied or others that bully the weak. A love and hate relationship has developed with his brother and his twin knows precisely what he's capable of. Though their disagreement has been there since early on, at the heart of it is a woman, isn't that always the case though?  In this case, it's the first girl that Raistlin ever kissed--though that should be kissed him--a long-time friend of his sister Kitara's. Wild, beautiful, and very elven. Kit always seemed very drawn to the elven people. He fell hard for her but how could he say it to her or to anyone really, he wasn't like Caramon he did not have the looks, or the skills or the charm to make a girl like him.

Though he is charming enough when he feels comfortable with someone, it is something he doesn't see in himself. This is perhaps the one bright spot in Raistlin's life. He both is excited and equally afraid of seeing her again--if she even shows up.

H I S T O R Y

Raistlin was born a twin and there were people that said he was incomplete as much as his older giant of a brother was. The brain and the brawn split, since  Caramon was the more honest but simple of the two of the brothers, and Raistlin was the one with the mind and the power. They would have his sister KIt to thank for that if she could be found. Raistlin was named by her for a character in a book who used wit over brawn and slyness over brute force, in the long run, Kit truly did name him appropriately not that he minds his name he is a man of little concerns for such things. Born on Corij 17th 326 AC.(after cataclysm)

Though he was often teased growing up, from the other boys his age in Haven to the boys that were not as bright, not as smart, and outclassed by his natural talent for magic. Jealousy can make children the worst and Raistlin got to learn this from the start.

Gilon Majere had taken his young son to the school of magic concerned for his growing talents and no education in what he was doing. He was taken to Theobald's mage academy. His attendance while arranged by his father Gilon was paid for by the white roe wizard Antimodes after being impressed with the boy. While Raistlin wanted to be an apprentice to the white-robed mage he declined because he did not take on apprentices.

He lost his father and shortly after his mother at 16 years old. When his father was felled by a tree, and his mother lapsed into a trance that she simply never came out of. The twins were mostly raised by Kitara there older half-sister.

Kit went adventuring from time to time and when she returned she came home with a friend. An elven woman with hair like autumn and eyes like the moon, and Raistlin was struck with her beauty. Not that anyone would know as secretive and private as he was. Especially, when Caramon decided that she was to be a great conquest, women always preferred his older more experienced twin. Raistlin was small and sickly. This became one of the arguments between the twins, Raistlin tried toward his older brother away and his older brother insisted he could catch the elusive woman traveling with their sister. Unaware, as he often was of his twin's emotions towards the elf maiden.

Kit however was not blind and she had given him a pep talk to go speak to her. He did he showed her the simple magic tricks he knew and one or two spells that no one knew he had achieved and rather than laugh at him or turn him away for being odd. She was charmingly interested in it, his coin trick was one of her favorites, and the two struck up a very friendly relationship--Raistlin got to see what it was like to have someone actually interested in the things he liked that wasn't family.

Caramon still blundered with trying to catch her eye. The dainty little elf often seemed intimidated by his larger brother. Yuletide the year he turned 17 she kissed him in the closet of the Inn of the Last Home and was caught by little Tika who would for weeks after making smooching noises at the two. His twin seemed irritated by that, and Raistlin simply let it go. For once his brother didn't have everyone hanging onto his every word and swooning over him.

So Anaosinn became a sore spot.

While that was the first time she kissed him it wasn't the last, but neither of them was particularly learned and it was feeling through things as they went. Where Caramon had experience, Raistlin had none, and where Kit had experience Anaosi had none. She had been terribly sad when she left them to travel on for the five years seeking divinity, she traveled for a time with the twins, though her path veered off and she went into the dark. Part of him went with her, possibly the goodly part of him.

Raistlin also went into his own version of the dark.

The brothers found Wayreth Forest and Raistlin at merely 20 years old would be the youngest mage to ever take the Test. He was in a way a sacrifice to the greater good and was chosen by the White Robe Par-Salin to be the sword against the oncoming Dragonarmies.

Raistlin in this time met Fistandantilus and struck a bargain with the ancient wizard. It was then that his lack of compassion surfaced. As an illusion of his brother casting magic set him over the edge, Caramon had everything strength, endurance, good looks and he was battle capable and now he was taking the one thing that made Raistlin different from him, and he lashed out, he lashed out and destroyed his twin, all while Caramon watched.

This changed their relationship drastically Caramon while still loving his brother was wary of him. Raistlin had been wrecked by the test. His health shattered. He could not shout spells, his voice had taken on a soft whispery sound and he had developed a wracking cough that would not heal. He was given the Red-Robes rather than the white that everyone assumed that Raistlin might take. In addition to this, he was given the Staff of Magius.

The brothers combined steel and magic together in a very effective manner and they joined the army of the Baron of Langtree a man known as the Mad Baron. During this time Raistlin became a war mage, learning how to cast battle magic. Taught by the mage Horkin who was a renegade mage. A a that Raistlin came to like as rare as it was for him. They were successful in their campaign and the twins moved on more experienced than they had been.

In which they wound up in the company of a Cat-Lord named Bast, destroyed a lich, and began to make their way back to Solace to meet with their companions.
