Hawke has a medium complexion and dark hair and moustache. He is on the tall side and slender-built, being sinewy rather than heavily-muscled. His eyes are something between blue and brown, his face seamed. He wears his hair long and loose. He dresses in style, usually in muted shades of blue and blue-grey.

His appearance and slight accent mark him as a Skovlan, though he's clearly been in Duskvol for many years. He shares little of his background or his life with others. He tends to stillness and silence, rarely speaks an unnecessary word, never laughs. His resting face tends to be a sneer. He has few good words for women of any description, though he is comradely with those he has chosen as partners in the 'business.'

His reputation in Crow's Foot is of a killing man with pistols and a sharp player of cards. No one accuses him of cheating.
