Appearance   :  Ventamo Trianus stands 5'7", narrow of shoulder and hips. He wears leather riding trousers and tall cavalry boots under a closely-buttoned tunic of the Taldan Horse. His eyes are shaded by the brim of his well-worn felt riding cover. A curved knuckle-bow sabre hangs from his belt and a crossbow is slung over his shoulder.

His slouched posture and alert darting eyes befits a conscript or a non-commissioned officer, but the pips on his epaulets read lieutenant, suggesting the man was raised from the ranks. Facial hair, more common in the border regiments, a moustache and sideburns in his case, is newly groomed and a bright golden blonde.

Background: Ventamo Trianus has always served the Taldan Horse: even as a boy he helped his ranch-owning father supply horses to the Yanmass regiments. Naturally he joined as early as he could, riding as one of the messenger boys for Baron Kustios, and fully joining the Horse when he turned 17. In the past 15 years Trianus has learned to keep his eyes open when on patrol and his head down when volunteers are asked for. Unfortunately for him, his officer and lieutenant were both killed while escorting a noble's family from Yanmass to Oppara, and pure self-preserving experience helped Ventamo break free of the ambush with the nobles and some of his fellow troopers alive. His good turn was rewarded with a bad one: instead of gold or jewels, he was given a commission in the Horse, a pawn of scheming politicians, and must now figure out how to navigate tracts far more dangerous than the borderlands around Yanmass.
