In 1848, after arriving at his destination, he signed up for a term of service in the Army. His stint was not extended, but it earned him citizenship and the chance at what he really wanted, a quiet life with the fresh air of the outdoors in his lungs. He has never married, has no children, and really has only bought his love by the hour. He lives off the land, traveling often, and therefor has never stayed anywhere long enough to build any sort of reputation. He prefers to be anonymous.
