Varen, son of Dalia and Reilen, grew up among the trees and fields. He and his brothers and sisters had an idyllic childhood, surrounded by loving family, encouraging words, and gentle teachers.

Varen grew up skirting the trees and fields of the elven domain in the central plains of Oln, playing in the streets of Ishhadel, in the forest of Shaothyr, what the humans called EverSpring. He grew up to be a border watch guardian, commonly known as a 'ranger'. Comfortable in the wilderness, he would spend months on end away from civilization, learning the lay of the lands and its secrets. He learned many things from his teachers, specially the ability to heal with herbs and poultices, from Ondolanil Salinhe, master hunter and ranger for the Home Guard.

It is thus he encountered the other races of the world: the complex and troubled humans, the stoic and stubborn dwarves, and the brutal but steady orcs.

His curiosity grew as the years passed, and it was on his 93rd season that he picked himself up and passed through the elven borders into the lands beyond. He carried with him his parent's blessings, a good set of weapons and armor, a solid head on his shoulders, and the skills he learned in his youth while among his kin.

They carried him far into the human lands, with a short stint among the dwarves. He learned that his martial skills made him a valuable sword for hire among a certain type of people. If he chose wisely, he was bound to not only make a good difference as he walked the lands, but also bring about earning a full purse of coins for his needs.
