Daphne Jade Warner

THE BASICS
Name: Daphne Jade Warner

Nickname: D.J.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Gender: Female

Age: 21

Hair: Brunette

Eyes: Hazel

Distinguishing Marks:
In her secret moments DJ has always wanted a Tatoo, she's also wanted piercings and a number of things that would make her stand out, but her upbringing frowned on body manipulation so currently her most distinguishing mark is a large scar curving around her elbow to the middle of her forearm.

General Appearance:
The most intriguing thing about D.J. are her eyes.  Her eyes move between greenish brown and green, depending on what she's wearing.  It'd not a dramatic change, but she has often thought they were an indicator of her mood.

DJ is athletic and fairly slim in build.  Her shoulder length brown hair is layered and while she is known to wear it free- from time to time it can be seen in braids or in a messy ponytail.  DJ is fun loving and wears her clothes to match. She wears jeans and comfortable shirts.  She keeps her makeup natural, yet stylish.

The most intriguing part about DJ is the way she carries herself.  There is regularly a skip in her step and she seems to have an amazing energy.  Truth is, she is a bit of a non-sleeper.  Being a tad hyperactive, DJ is known to stay up and read books, knit sweaters, fix furniture, refinish floors.  While she looks like a slight woman, she carries herself with an aura that makes people realize there is something more.

HISTORY
Personality:

DJ is much more complicated than she appears on the surface.  She is a wash of worry about direction.  While she has a natural knack to help other people find their paths, she has trouble finding her own. Everything in her life tends to look like a maze, and while she strives to do the right thing- she has had past experiences that have taught her that the right thing doesn't always end up pretty.

As confident as DJ appears in public and especially around those in authority, it all shatters when she meets a man she finds interesting or worse yet attractive.  She, in the past, has become nervous and when in doubt, she retreats.

DJ has a temper- it comes out through her protective instincts.  She will put herself at risk in order to help the underdog.  She watches out for those who are in need and is highly empathetic.  Her heart gets in the way often, putting her at risk.  She is hurt regularly, but oddly never regrets it.

An odd side effect of her hyperactive nature is that she doesn't sleep.  Part of it is problem solving, part of it is a creative streak, and part of it is a natural nervous energy founded from deep-seated worries and anxieties.  Because of her natural sleepless state she has plenty of projects- At night it's not unusual to see her sanding the gym floor or painting a mural on a wall with a bank of floodlights glowing in the darkness.

Those who know her would call her a spiritual person, though they'd be hard pressed to remember seeing her at a church service. Her anxiety stemming from the fire, makes her fidgety in church buildings.

Sexual Preferences: Hetero/ Androphilia

Employment: Manager of the 12th Street Youth Center

About Your character:
When DJ was born in Pine Bluffs, Arkansas, her grandmother was quick to point out that she was going to be special.  Whether or not that was true, much of her life as Reverend Warner's darling daughter, was spent next to her grandmother who treated her son's calling with amusement and more than a little sarcasm.  This helped buffer a father who insisted his daughter wear a t-shirt under her bathing suit and spend all of her free time volunteering for the church.

In her teens she was put in charge of babysitting for services and that moved to peer counseling.  Having so much religion in her life made it difficult to interact with her peers.  Most treated her presence as if she was going to run to the police if they did anything the slightest bit fun- so they avoided her. DJ retreated to her Grandmother's side.  There, very much behind her father's back, she learned poker, art, the joys of 80s metal bands, and the fundamentals of swearing- though she never got past the minor leagues.  A fire in the basement of the church, during her father's service when she was sixteen removed her dad from the pulpit, scared her arm, and left her with more nightmares than she'd like.

As she got older it seemed natural to go into Social Services.  She got her degree in youth counseling and opened her first youth center when she was twenty.  The call to come to Darke City was unexpected to say the least.  Her youth center, only a year old in Pine Bluffs was finally getting roots and she was presented with a take it or take it offer to pick up the shattered remains of the Darke City Community Center and turn it in to a youth center similar to the one in Pine Bluffs.  The church would provide a fund to get it up on it's feet until she could obtain government aid.  Her father urged her to use this to do more good in the world.  She couldn't say no to him.

What started out being something she was worried about has finally provided DJ with a path for herself- that isn't tied to the Reverend or the tragedy.
