He tried to start a company with his good friend Franklin, only to have that friend gamble away their startup money. That was manageable, because Dominic had his girlfriend to rely on... until he caught her cheating with his (now-former) business partner and friend. It was on what was already the worst night of his life that he came into contact with the Dragon, for better or worse.
