With the 5e system reaching a more complex level of maturity it is now possible to run a combined setting, indeed a combined genre, game.The Mini Oasis is a series of parallel worlds that some consider alternate dimensions, some would call alternate prime material planes, and a few just call home. Characters can come from any kind of setting, be it sci fi, phantasy, western, or even fully modern with or without super powers, and by virtue of being bound to the same core mechanics of 5e D&D all of them can interact easily.
Building your own home world will be just as important as building your character, but if you can't think of a way to transfer out of your world into another someone can help you with that.
