Born into a Military family it was only natural for Anders to continue the tradition. His father had been Airborne as well as his father. Entering the Army he quickly accumulated promotions and secured his Airborne Tab and soon after that, his Ranger tab and ended up with the 75th Ranger Battalion where he spent most of his career.

The final Tab was the Special Forces one. That was the hardest to achieve, one that none of his family ever had. And after the second time being "Boarded", what happens when you pass the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) course but aren't chosen to continue, he realized that he was good, very, very good; but just not good at that level, he continued on with his career still confident in his abilities.

Nearing the end of his career, the Army transferred him into a senior NCO leadership position in the 5th ID to pass on his knowledge and skills. That was just a few short years before the war.

Now he just wants to keep everyone in his "unit" alive and free and hopefully get home at some point. If there even is a home anymore. His family (wife and two daughters) live or lived, in Oregon. He hopes for their survival, but has come to terms that even if they are alive, he'll never find them as they would likely have to have fled themselves.
