Zale was born to Gerard and Countess Melinda Horvath of House Horvath.  He has spent his entire life being raised in the Castle or on mother's estates.  Except when his father took him on 'field trips' or out to sea.

While he favors his mother's complection and coloring, he is obviously Gerard's son.  While not as massive and seems more fluid in his movements, he is definately solid and looks like he put some effort into his physical form. That, and he is still growing.  Evidently, according to Flora, the Shadow Earth actor, Ryan Phillippe, looks like a smaller version of Zale.

While not as overtly open as his father, Zale is polite and fairly friendly.  He also, even at his age, appropriate.  In the library he reads a book, at gatherings he mingles and can be engaging, while sparring he will be smashing peoples faces into the floor...  He will laugh at jokes and even seems to express sympathy.  In a word, he is respectful.

That being said, even as a child he would sneak out and get into trouble.  Often he'd return from these misadventures (either on his own or found) battered, bruised, and sometimes bloody.  And, while it seems that he and his father get along very well, there have been more than a few arguements that could be heard throughout the castle.  According to eye-witnesses 'somebody' ripped off a door and threw it out a window.  And, depending on who you listen to, Benedict or Random (or both) had to step in on more than one occasion.  As Zale has gotten older these 'discussions' have been happening with less frequency and much less intensity.  It should be pointed out that Zale feels it is extremely improper to bring these occurances up in polite conversation.

When not doing all the things required of him as a Gerard's son (lessons, be seen/not heard, take this, get that, etc...), Zale can be found practicing/working out/sparring, reading in the library, or prowling the city and beaches.  While obviously a physical individual, he also seems to be fond of reading, chess, and other games of that nature.

Regardless of dress, Zale usually wears dark blues and yellows and prefers function over form.  However, he is always dressed approrpiatly to his environment.  On his right ring finger he wears a platnum band that is circled all the way around with diamond, saphire, and citrine.  The pattern repeats all the way around
