The Divine & The Damned

“Certain areas or sometimes the whole body would be
uncannily shriveled or compressed, and atrocious collaps-
es or disintegrations were common. In the last stages –
and death was always the result – there would be a gray-
ing and turning brittle…”
-H.P. Lovecraft: The Colour Out of Space

No one saw it coming, not god, nor mortal or even AO on the high. When they struck they, them, those. Creatures from beyond the Starry Veil, something that lay beyond Shar's Void, something that was beyond the Weave, not tangled within the Shadow Weave, beyond the time even as Labalas Enoreth might have saw it. It took braver and it took guile. It did little to hold back the staunch and flow of creatures.

The Gods, that did not fall at first, did what they could to help. Aroveen the defender ever brave. They said he rode into battle at the side of Torm, Red Knight and more surprisingly Bane to do battle on the field that those wily creatures chose. None returned, and it was just as well. AO drew the divinity from them as only he could, the magic and essence of what they were like glowing stars that circled him.

Other's infiltrated the stronghold, more stars for his collection, more gods collected. In the end it took the pantheon Good and Evil, working together to seal them away again, and that seal is only tentative. It will given him what he needed though--time. To come up with something to effect them, to give his children a fighting chance.

First, he needed those that would serve, to step forward, he needed people willing to take on mantles of old, to see to it that the magic continued, that the faithful were still served, and serving in turn. It was going to take all they had and hopefully that would be enough. There were still these creatures throughout the realms, monsters, things that went bump in the night. Those things that even gods were given nightmares of.

Welcome to Toril, it is a torn world, dark and cruel where the death tolls have measured in the millions in both god and mortal lives. Where even the Darkness is wary of what dwells within it.

Come heed AO- Take up a mantle seek the power to protect those that worship you, and protect the realms from this latest, frightening threat.
