Background:

Avoiding the same terrible fate as the majority of the noble Vashi clans of the Dagger Isles by the Empire's inquisition of the royal nomads; Clan Brokz fled to the city of Doskvol. Banding their barges together for protection and community, they created Tangletown in the waterways of Crow's Foot. Seen as mistrusted outsiders and a source of constant prejudice, the Brokz held strong to their ancient customs and beliefs in the face of destruction, becoming a symbol of Vashi survival.

After a few generations, the Brokz began to slowly integrate themselves within the lower and middle professional classes of the city. One family took the name Pennbrook and purchased a small shipping house along the docks. Using their Vashi contacts that remained in the Dagger Isles, Brooks Shipping became a leading smuggler for illegal Vashi contraband and exotic goods from their homeland. The current leader of the shipping house is Dom Pennbrook; who took the helm after his older brother Alfie was sent to Ironhook, arrested for his smuggling activities during the war.

After serving five years, Alfie has returned to the streets of Doskvol. Having made contacts in prison and deciding it better to allow his younger brother to continue running Brooks; the hardened Taboo instead seeks the opportunities the city's shadows have to offer.

Personality:

Alfie grew up as a merchant, so his first impression often comes with a sly smile. That smile quickly disappears when he feels disrespected or when a deal begins to turn against him.

Though he developed a reputation in prison for his merciless rage; he equally has a reputation for utter control of that anger. He much prefers happy customers and well-bribed competitors, but will not stand for any mistreatment of his family and clan.

Description:

Taboo carries himself as a professional. Although his clothing is not the standards of a true nobleman, it is always clean and well maintained. He wears a sturdy long-coat, its thick leather interior easily protecting him against the cold or a blade. His top-hat is stylish, but also houses a secret compartment for various items he may need in a pinch. His silver ram-headed cane is always at hand, the few survivors of the implement still show indentations of that animal.

Under his well tailored facade, Taboo's body is covered in exotic symbols and sigils of his Vashi heritage. Among his own people, the tattoos explain his royal blood and nobility as well as offer protection against the angry dead. Each of his fingers are adorned with thick gold or silver rings, each one an heirloom smuggled from his homeland by his ancestors. They are quite gaudy, but are symbols of nobility among the Vashi as well as weapons at the end of his powerful strikes.
