Appolonius grew up as the son of two covenfolk at Durenmar. And during his early life he worked in the covenant as a servant, though this changed when his Gift finally manifested after turning 13. As he grew up in such a old and Traditional covenant he developed certain views of what a Magus and a Hedge Wizard was. He also gained a certain respect for the work of Bonisagus and his House. As he became a Magus himself he found that he wasn't the most suited to research, and to his initial disappointment he wasn't picked up by one of the Bonisagi, but by a Flambeau. However he did his best to become a excellent example of all that he considered to be a proper Flambeau.

After his Gauntlet he has acquired a determination to show the superiority of Hermetic Magic. Both by supporting the Hermetic research of those like Bonisagus, and by besting Hedge Wizards who rely on what he sees as the lesser magics.
